Hi guys,

Back in March i tried fly fishing for the first time - Man i'm hooked. I know it wasn't in Sydney, but i thought i'd post anyway.

I was with experienced guides and i'm sure it helped having them choose the fly, teach me techniques etc, as well as using good loan equipment (Approx $1000 rod!). We fished lakes around Ballarat area.

I caught 16 fish in 4 days, which even in the esteemed guides' minds (Mick Kaksa and Philip Weigal) was some pretty good beginnners luck.

I have attached some photo's. Most successful flies in general for all fisherman were brown nymphs, Stick Caddis, woolly buggers, Tom Jones' and Christmas Trees.

Regards

Ed

Nice spotted carp(that might get a bite from the purists) well done. only kiddin they are a great sport fish that enjoy a habitat that most of our natives don't, had a few good trout outings & they are a good mind challenge.

Nice work, they are good fish where ever you are.

At this time of year the lakes around Lithgow are starting to fire up, and there have been some nice fish taken. Its only a couple of hours away and well worth a trip. Last year I went to Thompsons Creek Dam and caught 8 fish from 3 pound to 6 1/2 pound in only 2 hours!!!
