My mate and I have recently discovered the joys of fishing the harbour, and with a couple of weeks off we have been heading out as much as possible. We are both kingy and jewie virgins....

Headed out Friday 29th after the horrible weather the previous day. Was cool and with a fresh southerly. We nearly didn't bother but wanted to wet a line anyway. Launched at Roseville - water was dirty as hell.

Headed down to the Spit Bridge, caught some yakkas. Not a squid to be seen. Lost a few livies before my mate's Penn 850 with 50lb mono started singing. 15 mins later we had this in the boat.

89cm Cobia on semi-live yakka. Bloody nice fish... :yahoo:

Lost a few more, including something than ran on my bream gear with a fillet of slimey. :1yikes:

Still chasing that king and/or jewie though.....

Isn't that the same thing as a cobia? Different name, same species?
