Had 2 weeks off work so decided to try my hand and lake macquaire.....
I did everything humanly possible to nail a flattie, used soft plastics, dead baits, live baits... channels, drop-offs sandbanks.... drifted, anchoered... did run-in, run-out, and on slack tides.... did the swansea channel, pullbar island, north and south of the lake... You name it we did it... No legal flattie was caught... Over the 5 days we fished the lake caught countless flounder, whiting, trevally, a few leatherjackets and bream.

On the last day before heading home, we did a reef charter just outside newcastle heads. Pulled in 27 fish between 3 of us. 4 Snapper, a couple of good sized bream and other reef fish.

On the 5/5 fished in botany bay targeting the last of some flatties before needing to turn my targets to trevally and bream for winter. Fished wise off towra for a couple of hours for no luck, started drifting up along brighton le-sands, picked up 3 flatties between 50-45cm, solid 32cm whiting and another flounder (was starting to get sick and tired of the sight of them after 7days of fishing)

Noted though that the water was extremely clear for the bay... Around towra in 4.5m water I could see straight to the bottom which is unusual in that part of the bay. Anyways a fun week of fishing was had by all which was the main thing.

Now bring on the trevally :-)
