Hit the Kosciusko National park about 11.00am friday after travelling through wee jasper and the brindabella ranges. we had camp set By 4.00pm and went to a wonderful little stream which was completely spring fed. The stretch we were on was called blue water holes and said water holes contained quite a few trout. I threw a gold and red celta around and managed to have up to four trout at a time chasing it around the pool. I had no success with these mid size trout so I stalked in on another deep pool and spotted the biggest rainbow I have ever seen, he must have pushed a kilo. I actually felt rediculous throwing my celta down infront of him as an offering, and rightly so, he took one look at my poor imitation and moved off in disgust.
Big trout who live in places so heavily fished get big and own pools for one reason. They're smart.
The following day we decided to move off to some more remote places in the Kosciusko, though it wasnt long before we came across a beautiful mountain stream with good deep pools under some small rapids. I cracked my fly rod out and had a search around in the grass matching some insects to the fly patterns I had. It took a while for me to lay a fly convincingly on the water though once I did, I had trout mouthing at them straight away. I didnt manage to hook any of these little buggers and Im sure its just inexpirience. Although I know trout are the most destructive introduced fish next to the carp, the skill of stalking and luring these elusive creatures is something I could make habbit of.
After a fruitless fly session we pushed on into a remote corner of the National park with no one around for miles. We had a beautiful camp near a stream then headed on the next day making our way out of the Mountains to the Land Rover 60th Anniversary show in Cooma.

Thanks mate. It sure was isolated, I hate camping near other people. The night before we camped at a NPW camp ground and had to put up with some real wankers. The young blokes beside us stayed up drinking and swearing till late then woke us up at the crack of dawn, I ended up having a dust up with the main offender and put him clean in his place. It just gives you more reason to get your map and compass out and do some searching for a top spot.
Hey BF you really now how to enjoy life buddy, good on ya champ excellet Pics.
Thanks for sharing that with us. This is my favourite part of Australia, in the winter because of the snow and the scenery and at other times simply because it is such a unique place.

No worries Big Fella.
I encourage everyone in these slow times on the sight to re-hash a few posts, especially the ones with photos. There have been so many great posts over the years that newcomers would never have seen!

To rough!!!(indignent sniff) I know your joking cause you have had the good fortune to be a passenger in the beast. I actually had two land cruisers follow me in to a sticky side trail, turn back and take alternate paths.
