gday fellas.
Have been trying to find a spot in the harbour (pref northern end and pref less busy than other areas) to fish from the rocks using google earth.
Has anyone fished from Dobroyd head before?
it looks like a decent spot from the air, Does anyone know if it might be a good spot to try?
I notice it lies within the north harbour aquatic reserve, but line fishing for fin fish is allowed, does that mean you cant catch squid?

Also if it is a good spot to try, which is the best way too get there?
Walking around from forty baskets beach or walking down from tania park?

What do you guys recon? should i keep looking for another spot or give it a go?

p.s. would be fishing with pillies/spinning and livie if i can get them.
targeting kings and whatever else i can get.

Cheers

mate u can walk in from 40 baskets/ reef beach, but it is prob a better drummer/blackfish spot than anything else, unless you walk to grotto or washaway i guess....
theres platforms off middle head that might suit you better puk .... or old mans hat

I've fished there too. You can get tailor, trevally and I'm sure kings if you're lucky. There's no restrictions on fishing for squid - you just can't collect any shellfish/ bait or pump worms etc.
The biggest concern is the wind and swell - don't venture out in the easterly winds.

I'd suggest walking from Reef Beach (the old nudie beach) rather than from 40 baskets.

If you plan to walk from the top of Balgowlah (above Grotto Point) down to Washaway, forget it unless you ar a reasonable climber. The track is fine, the descent onto the beach at the end is a bit tricky. Tried it last week and decided never again.
