Went to Hacking today and showed up at the ramp nice and early around 7. Hacking was flat so first had a look around jibbin (?) as I normally don't go there due to too many waves.
Caught some yakka's for bait and lots of sweep. went to yowie bay around the moorings trying for King. Again no king fish today.
My plastic lures were being eaten everywhere so lot's of leatherjackets around. I decided to make a meal out of these and start catching some.
Did not take long to get my bag limit on these so that was good, wifey has a meal again.

Again lot's of decent size sweep were around and junior reds and a nice mackerel which was good on my light gear

all in all a nice day out with lot's of fish.

I'm pretty sure it was a mackerel, looked an awful lot like the things I used to catch in Holland by the tub full

Well done Jack.
They shouldnt have a limit on those bloody Jackets. Theyre a pest and are destroying our reefs. Keep topping the limit mate.

a nice days fishing mate!!
I was thinking of getting a few of those buggers next time i go out. Very nice lightly floured and fried in butter!
Pitty i cant get out on the hacking for the next few weeks im in Broome, though I will be chasing real mackerel (well over 1.5M)!!!

You should know, it was caught right in your back yard :beerchug:

Looks like a massive Frigate to me?
Watsons leaping Bonnies are smaller and have spots on the top where this one has lines, and Mac Tuna have a more purple/blue hue to them so i count that out to. Its a tricky photo, you got any other pics of that fish Jack?

Sorry no other pics. The top was more dark blue than it looks in the pic.
32-33 cm does not sound that massive, but on 4 pound mono it was fun :-)
Finally something that tested the silky smooth drag of my tierra.
To lift it in I had to lift the anchor as it decided after a while to do loop the loop around my anchor line.
Jack
Trust me kamil that is a Mack tuna without a doubt.A lot of people confuse small mack tuna with frigate mackerel. But the black spots are a give away.
Cheers Nick
