I went for a bit of a bream bash today, down parramatta way, near silverwater. I was fishing a hawg on a 5lb leader, when I thought I got snagged. Ihit it a couple of times then it started to move. The fight went on for 20 to 30 minutes. we chased it up and down the river, dodging ferries as they came throught he channel. It would ahd of made 25 or more runs over 50m. Finally after a few bad calls it surfaced, a jewie, dispelling all of the trevor flattie or massive bream calls that came up in the first 10 to 15 mins of the fight. We measured it to just over 1m, scales did not work!! After a few snaps we spent 20 mins reviving it when it swam freely away. I am stoked. It is a pb on light line only 5lb flurocarbon and a #2 jighead with a 1" hawg and first jewie of this size fishing for bream.
Nice fish Kris, on 5lb leader, you need to buy a lottery ticket it should have worn through.
good one.
Top fish mate well done.
I agree with Greg, buy some lottery tickets.
Should have called me I could have weighed it for you as I had my digi scales with me.
Well done again.
Cheers
Lee

Yep she was a beauty, I am still buzzing about it a day later!!!!
Just checked out the fisheries weight length charts it measured just on 1m, so by there estimates it was between 9.2kg for a 96cm fish, it was a meter fish, and 100cm weighs 10.3 kg.
I should had of kept it for an ansa record, for lure casting the old records in the 2kg and 3kg class are
MULLOWAY 2kg 6.650kg A KING WAGONGA INLET NSW 26-04-81
MULLOWAY 3kg 6.100kg M PEASE BELLAMBI NSW 21-01-84
I would had of smashed it!!!!
That was a fish of a lifetime

Kriss, to submit it for a record you would have to be an ANSA member. Are you?
If you are, how does one become an ANSA member?

Yes you do have to be member, club member as i understand, but you dont have to join until you put in for a record. I am however themember of a couple of fishing clubs.
For all the details check out http://www.ansa.com.au/
You also have to follow fairly strict tackle guidelines and submit the end 15 meters of line for testing.
As the blood was pumping in my brain I released the fish with only the photos to prove it, the leader was simply used again once i had removed the slightly worn bit. Had i had of thought I would had of done it by the ansa rules, but then again i was great to see it swim away.....better than any record in my eyes.
Excellent work!! That must have been a bloody awesome feeling.
Give that man a BEER!
Awesome fish Kris. No wonder you are still buzzing 2 days later. I dream of catching one like that on such light line, chasing it up and down the river..
who's boat is that ?

Wasn't it worth keeping it for a feed?
Or is it not advisable to eat something caught out of Parramatta river ?

Aaron owns the boat, and he drove it while the fight was on, I would not had of got it if he had not done such a good job of keeping ahead of the fish. We reckon that the fish must had of been dizzy by the end of it, I know we both were.
As for a feed I personally would not eat any thing out of that part of the river, Homebush bay is just around the corner. It will be another 20 or 30 years before I would consider eating fish from that area, no matter what the authorities say. Plus catch and release is far more rewarding for me at the end of the day.
Kris,
Ellise got a thumper of a trevally at the exact same spot yesterday.
After dodging 3 ferries and countless other craft we thought your fish must have enjoyed itself so much on saturday it came back for another go.
I will get rod to post the photo.

Nah, nice one! Numerz doing next sat with Greg. What's the story on his monster? I rekon it would have to go 40kg.
