Guys back put it this way bit dissapointed cause i put in like 15 hours fishing and well i caught some fish but all too small ... at port mac it was rain on and off ... 5 mins rain 5 mins sun shine, i throught bugger this i going fishing, i got soak all morning for a few bream undersized buggers too ....

i seen some people at low tide jigging for herring and they getting heeps some i got one next day day there at low tide got 50 herring 3 or 4 yakkas all good for bait

... so keep fushing for the 4 days and in the end one flattie caught around 9 o clock so not bad 36 cm on the bbq few days later bloody nice tucker till you that now ...

after that we headed to queensland good weather went fushing at night got me first fish of queensland http://www.fishing-oz-style.info/forum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif a little little bream but still pretty cool ... bloke next too me fishing got a big string ray too ... that was just about it ..


then we throught we stay at forster and do some fushing for 2 days weather was **** as raining non stop raining and water was cold as fishing for 15 mins and packed up and went home the next day ...


and well that was it might head out too hacking on sunday for a fush

Thank you for the loverly pics Quinnie. Those herring will make some GREAT baits.
Pity about the weather ,but it is getting better & better,tomorrow should be a ripper !

Those herring look interesting fish - I ve never seen them before. Do you catch them the same way as yellowtail. Are they fully grown ie do they get any bigger?

yer mate that about full growth for them, they are great bait, and they freeze very well, beter then yakkas, and yep you catch them the same way as yakkas, a jig rig with a snapper lead :headbang:

hey quinnie did u fish lake cathie just south of port?
i lived there for a bit and it fires for bream and flathead neat the two bridges at night.If u ever go up im always keen for a mission have a good one and thanks for the report i went out on sat and below are pics of the fish we caught from a full day of trawling

Sounds like a great trip Daniel, apart from the bloody rain. Your right about the Herring, they freeze great.
