I have been out a few times over the last few weeks with the other poster Lockie and another mate, going upstream from the footbridge between Bundeena and Mainbar.

We have gotten some good size bream leatherjackets and flatties, including a bream which weighed about a kilo, so we were rather impressed. Admittedly it wasnt mine, but I got one near that size the week later. It's a great dropoff up in that area, but is a fair bit of a walk to get there through the bush, but totally worth it.

Just a few pics from the adventures.

We have been throwing out in the red area and doing rather well, but mate who I have been going out with has had some good success off the other side as well as using a tinny up in the middle. You can apparently sometimes get a small one up there under the bridge around middle of the tide but you sure as hell don't want to get stuck in there.

We have used Prawns Pillys and worms there and done well, although nothing seems to really go for squid or chickengut. I have tried plastics, with no success, but that may have something to do with my lack of experience in using them.

guys that area is a breeding ground for the flathead too

we have picked up monster flathead from there

biggest one we have picked up was 97 cm at 4.8kg

if it was me that caught it wouldve been released

umm if you follow the sand on the sands up the sides going back up the channel towards the beach you can see flathead sitting in the middle or somewhere throw soft plastics garunteed to catch one dont think baits will do

nice little secret spot

o if you fish the beach too in winter and have yellowtail fillets can pick up some rather nice bream talking bout 40 cm plus
