hey guys..

2008 trip off the north of tasmania..

we did some Tasmanian King Crab tagging and longlines inside a marine reserve to assess its effectiveness and caught some whopper ling.

We did two demersal longlines one iside a new marine reserve and one out to see if there was more abundance of sharks and ling inside the reserve. all sharks caught were tagged and then released. many more pink ling were caught inside the reserve aswell as a nice blue eye.

King crabs were also tagged and released. not much is known about this species.

we were also going to go for some tasmanian trumpeter but the weather turned rough as it usually does in the Bass strait, but nex year tho :)

Yeah i know, only way to get permession aye haha. um i think the big one went a meter thirty... we also caught southern calimari with hoods 80cm long at night time that would make multiple 10m runs...biggest squid i've seen

we didn't get one this year but last year we ate a 5kg one and it was awsome. a real game crab type taste. strong but nice i reckon. ling are awsome, the boat chef cooked some up that night. real tasty for what they look like.
