hi guys

i am looking for a couple of new batteries for my electric motor (due to the fact they ran out at about 1pm last comp).

i currently have 2 x 75 amp hour ones but am looking to up grade to at least 2 x 100 or hopefully 2 x 130. now the problem is i am limited for space. i have been told to have a look at some calcium type ones as they are relativly small for the amp hour size. Price is more but size is the problem.

does any one know of someone that sells calcium batteries in the newcastle area that i can call for some size details????

To my knowledge, and I could be wrong, but the calcium battery you speak of uses calcium only in the grid that connects the terminals internally. All AGM (Absorbent Glass Matt) or Gel batteries have calcium/copper grids. The sizes will all be similar in any brand of AGM or gel battery. Make sure you get one that is a MARINE grade, as they have thicker casings and stronger internals to negate the bashing they cop.

Some dimensions for you.
CENTURY UPZ 12-100
12 volt 100 amp
W407mm
D173mm
H240mm

LIFELINELIF GPL2700T
12 volt 100 amp
L333mm
W172mm
H235mm

I have just been through what you are asking and I can tell you almost all case height sizes for most makes or models are very similar. Width sizes are another matter. there are heaps to choose from. The same goes for gells. However with gels there are some makes that can be laid on thier sides which saves height space if this is another alternative idea.

2 x 75amp is no good for a 24v setup. I got 2 x 120amp and it last me 3-4 days with my 65lb. From memory you have the 74lb maxum don't you? If so 2 x 120amp is easily enough.

For the record I run 2 x 120amp Amptech batteries and they have served me well.

Cheers

I updated to the PTSv motor guide (84 pound) last month thats why my current battiers are running low. I think i need at least 120amp hour. Just trying to find some that will fit.
