Guys i have a Lowrance sounder. It came with the boat so ive learnt to use it just by playing with it.
It has a temp. function but when i turn it to 'on' it still shows 0 degrees.
Is this because the transducer doesnt come with the function? or would it be something else?
I want to get a new sounder eventually, but until i do is there another gizmo i could attach to the boat which would give me temp.
No smarty pants answers like tying abit of line round a thermometer and dropping it over the side..... Unless it works ofcourse!

we had same prob on a furuno a while ago, was going to cost $900 with labour to put a new transducer in it, so we bought a $39.95 minn kota AA battery powered temp guage, mounted externally, and it did us beautifully.

Its a Lowrance X-75.
It has duel transducers, here is the pics of how they are fitted through the hull.

you need to buy a speed/temp wheel for those units, dunno if available here anymore, try ebay.
