Plans are well underway for the John Bethune Testimonial fishing comp and social at Walkers Beach on the Hawkesbury River on the 19th August.
Dean Hayes is organising the event, and he's contacted many within the fishing industry for prizes for the raffle and the auction to help raise money for John. They'll be guest speakers as well and some of the names mentioned will make this a very entertaining for everyone there, as well as very important day for John.
John Bethune is one of fishings true gentlemen, and there's little doubt he's had a strong influence on literally thousands of people. It would be fantastic if as many people as possible could make the 19th August to help give something back to a man who has given of himself so freely to others over such a long time.
Keep an eye out for further details, and make the 19th August free guys and make an effort to come along. It's only a one day event, so let's show our support and be there for this important event.
Cheers
Steve Prott
P.S.
The day will start 0800ish and finish 2200ish. there is camping avail fri and sat night so you dont have to drive early or late.

It will be run by one of the pro fishing event organisers so just hang on and details will be out soon.
At this stage just keep the day free and save that cash.

While the more the merrier is the motto for the JB testemonial comp please remember this is about raising money for John.
To that end those who pay the $100 will be looked after first and formost!
When the Competitors register on the day they will be given a food ticket and they will be fed first and they have call on the seating and tables their $100 is paying for. Apart from staff and the special guests the rest of us will have to catch as catch can.
Because we dont have money, names and numbers from those who are just coming for the raffle etc you will have to take pot luck.
We will have extra food that you can buy on the night, however no promises and if you want to ensure a meal and a place in the hall then join up thru sportsfish.
If you just want to turn up to drink a few beers with JB and bid on items and buy raffle tickets then fill your boots and have a ball. I would suggest turning up around 7pm as the meal should just about be over and the fun beggining.

Verification of BBQ and comp Rules

Evening to all,

After speaking to Dave I thought I would clarify a number of points.

For all those people who would like to attend the BBQ but for whatever reason can't be in the comp there is a small charge.

Single $30:00
Famiy $50:00 ( 2 adults & 2 kids under 16)

Should any of you be unable to attend both but would like to contrbuite then you can do so by sending your donation to the Sportsfish Address along with your name & phone number.

Now for the Comp:

Briefing at 8:30am on the beach.

Start order by drawning out of a hat.

Fishing commences at 9:00am.

Fishable waters unrestricted.

Check-in at 2:00pm at the Beach.

Fishing ceases at 2:00pm.

Returned you 2 (two) best Bass to be weighed.
Competitors are required to present their fish in the supplied weigh bags. After recording your fish weight you are required to release the fish and then hand the weigh bag to the next person in line.

You can fish the event in any craft provided it is safe to do so including yaks, however only competitors can be in boats competing in the event. Also remember this is a individual event.

Should you wish to fish with your son or daughter AND they are under the age of 16 a entry fee of $20:00 will apply and they will only be eligible for the Junior prizes. Please mark your entry accordingly. Juniors will only be allowed to fish under the control of their guardian.

Announcement of the winners will be during the BBQ.

Hope I have covered most of the points.

Neil

Hope this clears some questions up
