Well the morning had been pants!!!! Fished Terrally early doors at low water.Tried spinner first and no takes. after about 20/30 chucks hooked the "plug" - bloody hell how hard is
it to snap 15 lb mono !!!!!!!

Next tried a Yozuri Aile 18g popper. No bass takes but nearly hooked a gull and two terns! Gave up at this point as was hankmarvin as well.Back to the van to formulate plan "B".

Well the wind was SE so decided to try the west side of the Mull. Had Ardwell Back Bay in my mind so set off for it. On the way passed the turn off for Drumbreddan,my mate had fished it years previous and said it may be worth a look! well forget it, Nearly got the car bogged down, the mark looked crap and on the way back landed in a farmyard complex and lost my way back. Got out of the car to recce my situation.Scary stuff - seen loads of blood ousing from a shed !!!! Oh well time for a sharp exit.

Next it was back to my original choice,Ardwell Back Bay. Arrived by the ramp to find two other cars parked up. Sorted my gear and set off to the "flat rock" - the one seaward of Doon Brock.. Got half way there and it started pishing down. Now that mark when wet is a no no so went back to the car to think on !

Oh well,Logan here we come.. Was thinking wrasse as had lug and limpets for bait. Got to the pier and it was a bit too squally for my liking so scrambled south for a bit.Got to a mark I had not fished for years so decided to give it a bash. Mind you I am not too keen on rock climbing and this was a" bit"iffy" for me. Anyway after jumping over the "leap of faith" I eventually got to the spot I wanted.

Set up the float gear with lug for bait and chucked out about 5m.Had the float set at about 9 feet with lug on a 1/0 hook. The float was in a matter of seconds and away she went - a pollack about 2.5 lbs. Rebaited and cast out again and then started to assemble my spinning outfit - !!!! float went down and missed it.Rebated the float rod and started spinning again on my second rod. Guess what? float zoomed away again and I missed it.

It this point decided to fish the float rod only and what a wise decision. I got a bite every other cast.Finished up with two pollack to about 2.5 lbs.The wrasse,I got twelve to just under 3 lbs. All were unhooked in a handy rock pool and returned alive. They all swam away with no fatalities.I did lose two really good fish though - aint it mint!http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k38/snatcherphoto/3-5.jpg

The wrasse were really a respledant golden colour and I took a few snaps for your edification.Yes you guessed the rest,a trudge back to the Port Logan Inn for one "drink and drive" and then back to our van on the clash.

A few medicinal wines on the veranda finished off the day a treat.I am doing this report in the van now on my laptop and will post it up when I get the chance, possibly Sat in Drummore Information Centre.

John

Sending this report from Drummore information centre. Met up with Ciderman on Drummore beach yesterday morning as I was digging bait. He was camping on the Clash site and said he had taken some bass on the fly - well done mate.It was the first time we had met up,it really is good to put the face to the name.

Also had a bit crack with Matty on the beach as he was launching - catch any tope mate ???

The weather is really foul at the moment so fishing is off the agenda.Oh well plan B is Bellhaven Best - luxury!!!

This is your resident MOG reporter signing off and going on the drink
