OK this is not my report and there won't be photos, but I'm EXCITED anyway!

My son is currently on holidays at Smith's lake and has taken my little punt with him to help in the fishing stakes - until Tuesday things had been quiet on the fishing front - the kids just content to hang at the beach or around the lakeside house they're in and sink tinnies all day.

Wednesday afternoon he hooked a big lizard but got done at the boat. Yeah right! I say when he tells me about the one that got away.

Thursay afternoon he phones again - he decided to go fishing when some of his mates went to the beach. He hooked another good flathead and this time he managed to get it into the net for a measure and weigh!

74.5cms and 2.7 kilo and he reckons the one on Wednesday was bigger.

Not a bad effort for a lazy bum!

Well done to the young fella mate.

Let me ask everyone this:

Where would you rather your kids were?:
1) At schoolies week off their trolly on happy pills and snort
or
2) At Smiths lake enjoying the great outdoors catching crocs on the lake

I suspect the young fella is not The Pope and is probably putting a few beers away (as young blokes do) and no doubt playing up but nonetheless I know where I'd rather he be!

Gotta agree Iain - except for one detail!

Last year he was up at the Gold Coast at Schoolies getting tanked every night and chasing what young lads chase when they're sober enough - meowwww!! Thankfully he is dead set anti-dope.

A couple of the kids he is with this year are schoolies, but are also anti-dope - I'm happy enough that he enjoys his outdoor sports and fishing :D

ahhhh, all this anti schoolies talk from such sensible tea totalling caring Dads

In reality it smacks of "if only we were a little bit younger, we'd show the young blokes how it's done." LOL
