What did you all think of the 1 day format?
5 fish weighed as a bag
nominate for big fish
1 session 7 hrs.

I think 5 fish is ok, but I know most people would rather see a 3 fish limit. After all a 2 day comp which equates to 13 hours of fishing give or take an hour or so depending on start times for 6 fish. A one day event equates to 5 fish. I personally can't see the logic behind a 5 fish 1 day event personally.

I would hate to see Pro Bream travel down a similar path to ABT with 5 fish and having a 3 fish limit is what sets apart PRO Bream from ABT. Also like Mark stated trying to keep 10 fish alive is harder than it is 6.

Also on another note I think Chris Craig should cancel one of the remaining rounds as the Hawkesbury 1 day round replaced the Newcastle 1 day round which will be rescheduled. Now we all have an extra round to do. I would think that the Botany Bay round should be cancelled as a result of this as most of the Newcastle area based anglers have mentioned that it will be a long drive for a 1 day event. It’s long enough for me to get to Botany let alone the guys traveling from further away. Just my thoughts and thoughts of some anglers I spoke to on Monday after the weigh in. I would like to hear other opinions regarding the idea of canning Botany for this season only.

Cheers

Hi Lee,

It's all about averages mate, trying to make to top 50 for the grand final, if the Newcastle venue was on Tony and myself were going, I live in Botany, I can understand not wanting to travel for a one day event but that's the schedule, it doesn't seem wright to now change it because a few guys don't want to travel if people don't want to travel and that's how the majority feel then all tournaments should then be central, like Sydney Harbour, Hawkesbury and Brisbane waters, myself I think this would become boring. I was going to Newcastle not only to get my points up but also a new environment to explore and fish. Schedule's set, don't change it is my opinion. It's like adding and removing rules as you feel, not a good if you want more competitors to compete in this tournament circuit to boost the prize money and become more competitive.

Couldn't agree more Staff. I have unfortunatly missed the last 2 rounds due to work and personal commitments, but I live 4 hoours from sydney and 5 from newcastle and ya don't hear me complaining about the drive. If you fish comps you obviously have a passion for it so a little further drive shouldn't worry anyone. IMO if people don't want to travel then that is there choise but if the tournament director has scheduled a comp for a certain waterway this should not warrent a change of venue

Just my 2 cents

Staff I understand but the schedule has already been changed once and will have to be changed again to accomadate the extra round to slot in and the extra round could possibly be scheduled for a weekend of when another comp is on. The tournament calenders are set well in advance so they do not overlap other comps. Botany was just a suggestion for Newcastle to replace but any other remaining waterways could also be cancelled. Its all about letting Chris know what we like so the comps can be run to a format that we all like and agree on. Keep the ideas and comments coming guys.

Personally I'm doing all rounds so it doesn't really matter to me and I was just voicing some of the opinions of some anglers i spoke to on monday after weigh in. As for distances travelled well for me my closest round is over an hour away.

I think if it's on the calander it should not be removed, obviously every round on there someone is looking forward to it, therefore newcastle must be visited at a later date, I agree way too many rounds. but its up to the indavidual weather you go or not! The hawkesbury was added ,it was either that or nothing till sydney because it would have clashed with other comps.

Mark,
What dont you like about 5 fish, it makes it harder for someone to luck onto 1 big fish and do overly well because of it, now they have to back that fish up or people with consistancy will get thier 5 & be rewarded for it. I liked it & had no problems at all with 10 fish in a 60ltr live well.
Sure some times its hard to even get 3 fish on waterways you don't know & 3 fish also stops others from getting too far ahead when you don't fill your 3 fish bag on day 1 of a normal 2 day round.
On a 1 day round i think it eliminates the fluke factor.

dont get me wrong beats i dont mind 5 fish really doesnt bother me at all as most of the comps i fished in in the past have been 5 fish & it is harder & does spread the winning board out so either way i really dont care i juts love fishing .as for the venues im the same it dont bother me where they r fishing new water is allwasy good although harder but thats the challenge im pretty easy with what ever is chosen on fish & places dont bother me at all more the merrier id be out fishing anyway .
i also like team events where 2 anglers r working together this elimates a few hassels for the non boaters complaing they dont get enough water i allwasy try to give the other guy as much room as me some times i think i worry more than i should & it affects my fishing but thats the way i am 1 day ill become an asshole & give them none hahahahahaahahahahahaha joking

im not saying change pro bream to teams but to indroduce a team event would be good .not all guys work well together but when u find a partner u clcik with & can view opions & work together it makes for a great event & the results speak for them self look at scotty & mango they are nearly unbeatable & i think its good for the sport we all love .with team event u work together even if 1 guys haveing a bad day the other guys normally fishes well & vice versus u can try diff lures ext anyway my thoughts only tight lines ahahahahahah who uses that line :eeek:

It's more than just klicking as a team, i've known Mark & Scott for a few years now & the amount of work those guys have put in both alone & together over the past 3-4 years is a big effort + trust. Thats why they are were they are now & deservedly so.

i would like to see a teams event scheduled just one would be good wouldnt count towards the g/f qualification at all but it would be fun.
as for the botany bay round, im not looking forwards to the drive down from newcastle but thats where its scheduled for and ill be going unless a miracle happens and i qualify beforehand!
different waterways are always interesting and enjoyable

One day comps are good. Five fish limits, no worries.

Some people don't know how good they've got it. Try driving from Jervis Bay for every comp. We only have one comp worth going in down this way, the Sussex Inlet Bream Classic which unfortunately is the same day as the one day Sydney Harbour comp.

Bring on a South Coast round any day, PLEASE!!!

Grant,

Put it forward to Chris Craig for next year. A change is as good as a holiday. I'm there if we go south.
