Hey guys had a brissie show day so i took my boss fishing on a hire and destroy boat after playing guide for a while baiting rigging and setting their lines, untangling bait jigs etc I thought I would put one out for myself and lo and behold a 9kg jewie followed by a 15 kg number while they watched and then insisted that I changed all the rigs to match mine. Whilst we didnot get any more jew or cobia we did get some trag, which we fed to the dolphins, squire to 2.5 kg and a few parrot(tuskfish) as well as a big banjo shark. The 7/0 tru turn gangs proved to be very sticky on livies and on pillies they beat a snelled rig hands down. On two trips the snelled rigs have about half the hookup rate of the gangs, many of the snelled rigs are chomped with no hookup whilst there has been only one hit on the gangs that has failed to hook up, also 4 of the 5 jews in 2 trips have been on the gangs even though both rigs are used as much as the other and hits seem to be the same.
Geez Kris, life is tough up there!
Thats some good work, same place as last time?

kamil the same spot, though it will be the last time for a while as we have just discovereda spot that a pro has been pulling 50 20kg plus cobia a day....whoa..so this is the next target this weekend. I am not sure who has caught a cobia but it is like a kingfish on roids..dirty and hard I would be happy with 1 cobia for 3 or 4 jewies of twice the size. To land 1big one is enough for anyone in a day.
Great fish Kris, and love that boat.
Now why couldn't we have had seas like that when we were up there! Might get back there next year. Just took delivery of our new "retirement home". An 18ft dual wheel Avan Pop-Top, great looking unit. The boss (you met her) thinks that we should try and do 2 to 3 trips of around 6 weeks each year rather than one huge trip to get around the lot.
Looking forward to seeing the cobes.
Cheers
