Hello all
I have one 1985 yam 90hp outboard, nice motor in good condition.
My question is that should I leave the oil injection on or should I remove and start premixing myself????
Also one other thing, I know I am in the wrong section but has anyone else had water leakage from the bungs?? I have replaced them with new ones, when I put water in the hull it looked like it was leaking from the thread section.
what do you ppl think, thanks in advance.

I purchased a new pair of those motors back in the late 80's when oil injection 1sr came out & it didn't take me long to piss off the oil injection system to premix my own fuel.

Piece of sh*t those motors were to boot, alarms going off off all the time.

The way I looked @ it was that if you premix then you dont need alarms nor could you end up with full fuel tanks with empty oil bottles.
Simplicity in a motor makes for easier boating.

As far as your bung goes ??

Well water can be decieving & unless you're missing the O Ring or it's damaged thn the water is leaking from the housing itself.

When fitting the housing ample sealer should be applied to surface which makes contact with hull B4 fastening it down.

This way the sealer gets into the pre drilled holes as well & creates a seal, you should get quiet a bit of exess ouzing out when tightened, use some windex & a rubber block to wipe it all away.

If using a urethane like sikaflex clean up the exess with a rag soaked in prepwash.
