View Full Version : LOWRANCE WINS OUT!
AFTER ALL THE CHECKING OF SPECS AND SERVICE BACK UP WITH FURUNO ENDING UP THE CLEAR FAVOURITE I ENDED UP ORDERING A LOWRANCE COMBO UNIT. LCX-27C DF
WHY? THE FURUNO 7" MODEL PRICED AT $2898.00, THE LOWRANCE 7" EQUIVALENT IS CURRENTLY ON SPECIAL FROM BIAS BOATING ,SAME PIXELS,SAME FEATURES BUT PRICED AT $1449.00. THATS EXACTLY HALF OF THE FURUNO PRICE. AND A 2 YEAR WARRANTY. THE PLACE WHERE I AM GETTING MY NEW BOAT FROM CAN'T EVEN GET CLOSE TO THAT PRICE, AND THEY ARE LOWRANCE DEALERS.
MAYBE BEATS KNOWS THE REASON FOR THE SPECIAL PRICE BUT TOO GOOD TO PASS UP. (NO JOKES ABOUT BUYING TWO TO HAVE ONE AS A SPARE PLEASE DC, UNLESS YOU WANT TO GIVE ME THE EXTRA MONEY FOR THE FURUNO)

No skin off my back what unit you decide to buy.
You asked what I thought I told you, you even put up a thread saying how well you were recieved @ Furuno where you got to speak to a person & not put on hold by a recording.
But hey if you want to go for a cheaper unit by all means do so personally I'd rather pay the extra & get quality.
ps] I did a search on the LCX-27C & I'm afraid lowrance give Sierra Foxtrot Alpha info on the unit.
No trandsducer power rating etc so I cant see how you can claim it's the same as the Furuno unit exept for the pixels.
I agree with DC, if they were all equal then the pro's would use them, the Pro's use Furuno because they are the BEST and thats that, they use them to drop fish traps and pots etc in between spaces so confined on the bottom of the ocean squashed in the middle of 2 ledges that only the Furuno can mark it out so that this is possible!
Im sure the one you got Haji will be more than ample for what you want to do, but they just aint the same!

If there's something I dont know then I ask those who do.
The price difference quoted by Haji didn't sit right with me so I rang someone who did know & like I told you Haji if you want to run around geting your own prices on the Furuno then that's your call but be fair about it.
salty is coming over tomorro & he's getting looked after on his new Furuno I'll let him tell you's about it.
To bad for anyone who may have been interested cause it went just as quick as it was mentioned to me.
I do have one & I'm refering to the 1920C it went @ a fraction of it's worth talking over $5 k of unit

Thought I told someone else on here that they were on special a while back & they schoffed & said no way that cheap. well there ya go !
And Haji you did get the right unit for you & im glad you seen the light, as for the comment about the service you posted in your last thread on the subject, I wasn't getting involved & let you make your choice, but now I'll tell you, try that again, you may find that it was the case that Lowrance had most of thier Sales, Technical, & Anglers AT THE BOAT SHOW :pottytrain1:!!!!
you probably seen the stand i'd say & still didn't click ?
I'm never going to try to sell a sounder to anyone, Thats not my job, but I will always be happy to answer any questions I see asked. on any sounder.
Well blow me down and call me Grandma, that did get a response didn't.
I got a full spec for Lowrance off the net, not that silly! And they compare with the Furuno.
Now I would have preferred a Furuno but I cannot see me paying double for the priveledge. Had a Lowrance on my Game Boat and found it to be ok, also very user friendly. I guess time will tell.
And Beats my earsight (as DC likes to call it) is not as good as it used to be. When that cartoon character in your post turns around is that your face? I can just make out what looks like a vertical smile so thought it was probably you? :rolling laughter::rolling laughter::rolling laughter: ( don't take offence will you)
And thanks for waking me up to the boat show situation, should have thought of that.
Cheers

Haji like I've allready said it's no skin off my back which unit you get but you should know by now I allways bite back when I read Porky's.
One thing when peeps tell porky's when joking about but not when posting serios advise.
Specs on the 2 units are not the same I also did a search last night & found very wittle info in the way of fair dinkum specs on the Lowrance in fact specs were very vain I did however ring someone in the know & he got back to me this morn.
Lowrance unit only runs in 256 bit & only has 4 colours whereas the Furuno uses 16 full colours.
Furuno has bottom lock & can discriminate the true bottom the Lowrance cant.
The Furuno comes with a choice of the 600 or 1000 watt tranny no specs on the lowrance & one can only assume a much smaller tranny.
Haji the list goes on & had you just said you deci9ded on the lowrance instead of the Furuno I wouldn't have even bothered posting in this thread but you've tried to compare a toy against a real unit & claimed both units are on equal par, that staement is very misleading & in my view warranted the comments which I've made.
Said it in your other thread I've been out on boats with Lowrance units & really think if you're a serious fisherman those units are mere toys & no where in the league of units such as the Furuno.
But for the sort of fishing you intend doing the Lowrance will do the job.

Not a Furuno but the price is a lot better.
Edit: Sorry about the hard to read text, you get that for nothing.
Question for Beats.
Can I use the map card from my previous unit (Navman) in the Lowrance or do they have their own special map cards?
Thanks
Haji
Tech Support may know differently but I'm under the impression that they recommend Navionics cards, a full Aus chart is about $350.
Lowrance have 2 card slots, accepting industry-standard memory cards (MMC/SD) so if it is 1 of those it may work !
HI BEATS
ANOTHER QUESTION FOR OUR RESIDENT LOWRANCE EXPERT.
IS THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR PART OF THE TRANSDUCER OR IS IT IN THE SPEED SENSOR? HAVING A GPS I CANNOT SEE THE SENSE OF FITTING THE SPEED SENSOR UNLESS IT HAS THE TEMP SENSOR IN IT.
CHEERS
HAJI
If it's a normal skimmer transducer mate it's in it already.
Why is that mate, cant get the reading on screen ?
or is it reading 0
Thanks Beats
As the new boat will not be delivered for some weeks the unit ihas not yet been fitted . I was just wondering whether I would need to fit the speed sensor as well as the transducer in order to get a temp reading.
The Transducer is the standard skimmer unit so I guess it includes the temp sensor.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers
Haji
yep, temp is in the transducer.
