Hi Fishoes
Heard on the radio this morning that Botany is going to be dredged to create more births for ships. That the dredging is going to continue to 2011.
Can you imagine what this is going to do to the water quality in the Bay? Fishoes that use the Bay will need to move, placing additional pressure on the Hacking and Syd harbour.
What’s fisheries doing with our licensing money ? I thought there protocol was to protect species and ensure fishing can be sustained.
I guess there’s not much we can do except have a whinge on this site.

They're F******** the Bay

Not so much the dreging but virtually all the area between the 3rd runway & Molineux point will be off limits to fishing.

The bay has an average depth of 5 - 6 meters & the only deep drops will eventually be off limits to fisho's.

Worse still the area I spoke off will virtually all be filled in cause it's cheaper to fill than erect the new container wharfs on pylons resulting in the absence of a fishy nursery.

A blanket will also be stretched across the runway & moly py to contain dredging spill which is said to stop tide flow into that whole are depriving the water of oxygen in other words that area wont sustain any life & no more wittle fishy's

Be careful of that one Kamil & yes there was talk of building a new 6 lane ramp to replace the one we're losing to the developent.

Seems that ramp is not velly high on the priority list & a long way down the track.

There's also talk that there'll be a marina where the new ramp is proposed to be located & that fisho's will have to pay a fee to use the ramp.

Now you know why I got that piss'd off in that thread regarding fishing licences.

Yeah they said it may be finished by 2011.
Looks good, but paying to use would suck poo!
