I have heard a rumour going around that FR was hacked into and really messed up. I have also heard that the "vandals" could possibly be ex members of FR and the administrator is claiming that they are !

Has anyone else heard this claim?

I hope this is not true as its not a really good way to start off the new site :cry:

If this story is fabricated and the blame is being placed here then fair enough, but if proof is found then these actions are best left for somewhere else.

Here's the truth. I'll leave this posted for a day or so and it will be removed and forgotten.

1) The site was not hacked by ex FR mods. I strongly suspect it was not hacked at all and the story is the fabrication of an overactive imagination.
2) What did happen was that it was discovered that any new member registration had automatic access to the mods section. This included access only and no admin or moderator privilages such as the ability to delete posts or memberships.

I repeat no hacking was done bythe FR mods. End of story.

Having been on line at the time, there did appear to be more than a little truth to the story in terms of the hacking.

However there is no way now to prove that the posters were who they claimed to be, some of those accused of this are fishermen of fair standing and integrity so I would like to think that they were not involved.

However this is all just best left behind so that we can get back on with the serious business of fishing and all that goes with it.
