mate i was using all different lures but the best soft plastic i would use would use berkly power bait 2.5" 7cm T-Tail Minnow in purple/peal or gulp as well and depending dam you go to different time year for example lake glenbawn spring you would use jackles and spinnerbaits, summer surfuce lures all day but every dam or lake is different.
the best lake to trie would be glenbawn defently in summer time.
what lake may help in answering your question.

I'll be going to st george basin, Also the Bewong river and maybe Tullarwulla Lagoon. Just wondering if there is any good spot around to fish~?
The basin isn't a known bass area though you will catch bream, whiting & flatties. never fished the bewong river but mates surely would, i'll ask for you.
but i'd say this time of year in a small river i'd try,
Plastics: small 2" Atomic curltails or Sliders on beatle spin arms, say 1/16th to 1/8oz heads. small offerings at this time of year slow rolled produce nice fish in creeks & rivers.
Hard bodies: probably deep Jackall chubbies or the old faithfull Knolls native.

Yep definatly the Atomic sliders. Green and chartruse on a bets spin as beats so wisley stated before me. Or a small sized spinner bait, there are a whole lot of good HB lures made by taylor made that come in small sizes, plain and bright colours which can be of use until the bite really warms up.
