May want to look @ building the trailer from Alloy.
I think Gal trailers are as usefull as tits are on a bull, they dont last the distance.
I've built a couple up out of Stainless & when you weigh up the costs involved you really dont save anything of significance by building it from steel then add to the that the cost of Gal dipping which gets charged by weight

i built my last trailer out of 50 x75 x 5mm steel and had it dipped, that was 5 yrs ago, still no sign of any rust... this one does not need to be as heavy, 40 x 75 x 3mm, we are gunna deliver it ourselves to dippers in brisvegas and pick it up, will cost us about 175 in fuel, way below freight charges, and will cost us round about 350 to dip, we picked up an old trailer for nicks with the right size steel a lot which is still useable so we only had to buy 2 lenghts of new stuff, will post pics of the trailer build when it happens...
the punt is 14.5 ft long and 1400 mm wide ... plenty of room ... :rolling laughter::rolling laughter: the yammy we picked up for 1200, its been built for racing but never raced, more like a 40 hp, we got the hull for 300 including the seats, were hoping to get out for under 5000 complete.. hoping .. :cool-smiley:

hey all, thanks for the kind replies, just posting an update of the latest progress.... were getting close now... final fitout of trailer tommorrow then its going away to get migged up and gall dipped.... at last ... we have all but finished the wiring and were in the final finish stage... bloody hell its been a mission and has taken up so much fishin time ... every weekend for 7 mnths now, Prof and i are still trying to be patient but i must admit its a struggle .. http://www.murraymonsters.com.au/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif http://www.murraymonsters.com.au/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif weve tried to get this boat right the first time with out having to make some stupid adjustment but theres still compromises to be made along the way and room for improvements .... but we reckon we got the basics fairly comfortable for a couple of old buggers with crook backs ... http://www.murraymonsters.com.au/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif http://www.murraymonsters.com.au/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif http://www.murraymonsters.com.au/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif http://www.murraymonsters.com.au/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif there are 4 more vertical rollers to be mounted yet on the trailer (morning), 1 at front of mudguard and 1 at rear .. the inside of guards where they are closest to the hull will be plated and carpeted.. hoping this will work out ok .. and give us some leeway when retrieving, so we dont ram in into the trailer .......
$1.00 a kilo for the dip and a carton off the best for the transport as it worked out sorry mr potato head, we lucked out on a deal ...:headbang:

Hey Maxi, where did you get those trailer wheels?
That has to be the best dressed trailer on the East coast!
Love your pics mate and looking forward to seeing pics of those fish come aboard.
Mrs Haji, daughters and I fished the river bridge up from South West Rocks some years ago, had a great night with jewies "boofing" not far from the boat causing mullet to jump all around us with quite a few landing in the boat, if that happens to you you will have to be quick to stop them jumping straight back overboard with that flat deck.
Top job! Thanks for sharing.
Cheers
Haji
