Went out on sunday with my cousin and his boss, we just had to christen, his bosses new sounder, bloody good one @ that, Eagle SeaCharter 502c
http://onlinefishfinders.com/pro978213.html

we got some nice horse slimies, but very wide??? nothing @ the valiant and just **** at west head. we were live baiting with paternoster rigs, we didnt want to jig..because we heard the jackets were everywhere and they were! we sounded over BBW and lots of fish on the southern end, so we dropped and we were smoked as soon as we hit the bottom...i could not believe it 2nd drop and the same again, didnt have much gear, but soon as the sun was high that was pretty much it, the jackets just plague us and some HUGE ones @ that.
we were after some snapper, went to the bommie @ killcare, on the nice drop off there and burely hard for a couple of pan size snapper, they wouldnt touch ANYTHING but slimie fillets or heads, biggest was about 37cms or around about that.

went in to narara creek for a flick, got a couple of flathead and a flounder, but all released, good to see that the river is starting to fire up. :cool-smiley:

if your fishing the reefs, get there early, or ur going to lose gear ALL DAY, lucky the night b4 we were moulding some snapper leads, and thankgod we did because we lost a bit of lead. all in all was a good day not much wind, and seabreeze got it right for once lol.:headbang:

gonna try in the next few weeks off terrigal, got a few marks off a local @ terrigal pub...so see how we go!

no pics, didnt think it was worth it lol sorry fellas

Good report Jewman......Heading up that way in a few weeks to catch up with a couple of mates and head to the same reefs and a few more hopefully if conditions allow.... Man I used to fish the channel just out of view of the railway bridge at east gossie-there was a deep hole there years ago......Great spot for digging up some blood worms on the bank opposite McDonalds-theres plenty there....You must've been in a smallish boat or it was a huge tide cause theres not much water in that area these days-bloody big drive from box to west gosford too-used to do it in my oldies 12ft tinny--you sure you werent in paddys channel???.

yeah haha na were in a 5.5m half cabin we put in at erina there on high tide, the smallest boat ramp ive ever seen lol but it was good cause no one was there to hold us up, quick launch and we were gone, it was a long trip indeed LOL but was alright, ended up coming all the way back in around iguana joes there and under the train bridge, nice spot there deep rise mud bank got few there all released

Yeah, good spot-used to be great for jews under that bridge and excellent whiting fishing on the sand flats out front of the baths-its all mud there now....Used to be some big bream out front of point frederick-might be worth a try next time you go. I'v not fished there for over 15yrs but you never know your luck.
