View Full Version : TRAILCRAFT DUE SOON
I HAVE FINALLY GOT A COMPLETION DATE FOR MY NEW 5.10 PROFISH WITH REAR MOUNTED CENTRE CONSOLE, ELECTRIC BOW MOUNT AND FRONT BATTERY BOX.
WILL LEAVE THE FACTORY NEXT WEEK TO BE SHIPPED TO SYDNEY AS PART OF A CONSOLIDATED SHIPMENT AS SOON AS THEY GET A FULL LOAD.
HAVING WAITED WHAT SEEMS A VERY LONG TIME SINCE FIRST ORDERING THE PROFISH AND BEING WITHOUT A BOAT SINCE THAT TIME (TRADED IN THE SEAFAIRY VIKING) I AM GETTING A LITTLE EXITED AT THE PROSPECT OF THE BOAT FINALLY ARRIVING SOON.
:headbang::headbang::headbang:
WILL POST PICS AS SOON AS.

good stuff mate
cannot wait to see pictures of your new boat.
Good stuff Haji, cant wait to see it. I would have got a Quinnie!!!!!! nananananana best riding boats ive been in in the Aluminium range.
Kamil, you are not one bit biased are you?
The reason I went for the Trailcraft was:
1 Self Draining
2 Transom door and good strong access ladder
3 Layout that is not available in a Quinie.
4 Heavier construction (plate bottom)
As to riding qualities, I am told that they are pretty good from some guys who own them. Posts on other sites seems to support this. (Probably not as good as the Seafairey was) I guess we will see when we take that trip out to Browns in company with your boat. One thing for sure, I will get a lot wetter than you will but am working on designing some fold down console mods that will give added protection. Can't help myself, need to "fiddle" like I did with the Fairey.
Cheers mate
Haji
I forgot to add that sitting behind the rear mounted centre console, EG; well behind the middle of the boat I should get a much easier ride than a driving position in the front of the boat. Just a thought.
Yes maybe i am. But there are very good reasons to this.
OK, lets have the reasons, don't keep us in suspense.
Please tell me I haven't made a mistake by choosing my boat over a Quinie. Mrs Haji would kill me I think.
Cheers
Haji

Good stuff haji .. will be good to see you out port hacking one day :headbang:
Haha kamil i think i would sell my boat for a trailcraft !! Awesome boat :smoking33: ( without the smoke )
Make sure you take heeps of pictures to mate :smiile: :wiink:
I didn't know you had a boat Danny. Last time I spoke with your dad, he said it was HIS boat. He told me the only thing you could afford was a tinny of coca cola
Now wherever did you hear that Storms?
I would really like to know because if they are not plate they are engaging in misleading and deceptive conduct which could very well give buyers of their boats a very strong case against the company.
Conversely, if you are seen to be spreading rumours that are not true and the company is damaged in any way as a result (loss of sales etc) they may well come after you just to protect their reputation.
So if you have information to support your comments please let me know and I will sure as hell follow it up.
In the meantime I will contact the company and ask them to confirm the specification of the ally that they use in both the bottom and the sides of their boats. When I get an answer I will post it on this thread.

Hey Bees, tell me about it, way far too long for me I can tell you, even thought of cancelling my order I was getting that pissed off waiting for it.
And the unwritten golden rule is that no one should bag another persons boat. If we all did that we would soon see some offers "to step outside" and sort it the old way.

Just commenting on what I was told by 1 much wiser than most of us-If you choose to take it as a personal attack on the boat you are buying hank well thats your choice on how you decide to take ones comments! I don't think trailcraft would give a stuff what I have to say so long as people are spending their hard earned they will keep constructing and selling-I'm far from saying they're a bad boat, wouldn't mind one myself, just exercising my right to freedom of speech!:pottytrain1::rolling laughter:

Haji
Just to clear up this Plate Senario in regards to Trailcraft Boats.
It hit a sore spot with me & started on another forum where I argued the point to a bunch of trailcraft owners who were clueless & chose to believe Trailcrafts advertising that they were indeed a full plate boat.
It was like talking to brick walls & I think most of you lot know by now if there's one thing DC cant stand it's porky's & idle gossip passed on by one person to the next.
In others words Dont http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/8137/bullvj1.jpg2 Me
Well @ this years Boat Show I got my chance & confronted the General Manager of Trailcraft, a pencil pusher clueless in the tradesman side of boat building.
I poped the Q ?
Are your boats full Plate ??????
He replied Yes !
Well like I said DC dosen't like Porkys if you're not up front with me then dont speak to me @ all.
DC then started throwing Q's @ him which he had no idea how to answer cut a long story short I said to him that if I returned the next day with a Rockwell Tester could he garauntee me I would get the same readings from the Hull Material & the Side Material ????
That's when he turned his back on me & walked away.
Some of you may know I'm in the process of building a 7.1 meter True Plate boat & anyone who has ever worked with 5083-H321 plate knows how tough the stuff if, hammers bounce off it.
What my belief is Trailercraft are using a 5005 or a 5052 sheet 7 only because it's 4 mm which [ on the boat sides ] they are calling it plate solely because of the thickness.
This is very misleading & what they should be calling their boats is * Plate Bottom Boats *
I've heard all the cr*p about Trailcrafts you beaut 80 ton break press, well let me tell you lot that thing is a toy when your working with plate esp trying to press fold up around 7 meters & if you haven't got the right tooling you'll crack the plate every time.
dc,
if your getting a new plate boat then give me your old rig.
you know it makes sense.
fellas i've been trying to perfect my boat and finish the bastard off for ages. cant get there. photos coming soon.
malcon out fishes you dc.

Righto so the bottom is plate but the sides aren't-Boating encyclopedia DC gets the facts I just can't argue with!:rolling laughter:
DC was with me when we visited the Trailcraft stand at the last Sydney Boat Show (I got the free tickets). He did approach the MD of Trailcraft but I did not witness the actual exchange.
So if that's right, a plate bottom where it counts and pressed sides to improve the appearance and allow more flexible shaping. Not a bad combo.
But to put the matter to bed I have written to Trailcraft and asked them to confirm the materials used.
In the end the only thing that really matters to me is whether I am happy with the boat and there only time will tell.
Cheers all

So haji mate are you up for a fish when the boat comes ??? :headbang:
I think they're a good looking boat Haji and the pressed sides puts them aside as a full production boat as opposed to a backyard boatbuilder wannabe.
It's good to see them thinking outside of the square.
Trailcraft don't seem to advertise their boats as full plate or even plate on their website, they're just telling it how it is.
Perhaps some over enthusiastic salesman would get into the great plate debate and describe them as full plate but no one believes salesmen anyway.
Do you have much fitting out to do once you take delivery?

Have to agree there Fed:headbang:
BK, ok I will post a pic of a boat as soon as I get the hang of the "Snagit" programme, I don't know why but I have a lot of trouble getting my pics from my camera to a file that I can find again, resizing to post them etc, it drives me nuts AaaaaaH!
Quinie, I told you before I will take you out to fish the deep hole at Wanda as soon as an opportunity permits. Tom is welcome to come as well. And night fishing the Port with your boat and mine and anyone else that wants to join. Just give me time to get the boat on the water.:headbang::headbang::headbang:
Fed, I want to insulate all stainless fittings/screws in the boat to try and completely stop any corrosion. I am a bit anal about that. :pottytrain1: :rolling laughter:
Also, I want to fit an add on fold down console/screen that hinges down from the standard unit. Still thinking about where to mount the Lowrance combo unit, would like to flush mount it but may not be possible unless i put it in the fold down console. Need to see the actual sizes etc to work out was is possible. Like most of us I guess I like to drive standing up. If I mount the sounder in the standard console I don't believe that it will be easy to read. So, I guess it might take a few weeks to do the final fit out.:nopity::nopity:
I will take plenty of pics of the fitout, particularly my efforts to corrosion proof the boat.
Cheers :hellyeah:

If this is aimed at me and in another post about knocking peoples gear, i have never done that, i simply said i would have bought a Quintrex and i am allowed to voice my opinion. People knock my boat all the time and i just laugh at them, i simply dont care and disagree with them.
I dont even have all my own gear for fishing, but have been one of the most successful sub5.5m Trailer boats fishing out of Sydney in the last 4 years when i have gone out there. From hooking every type of Billfish bar a Broadbill all out of Sydney to 32kg Jews, yep ive done it, and not always with my own gear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So please if people are not allowed to voice their opinions and say what they feel, im going to staple my mouth shut!
i was merely joking when i said that hence the "nananana" bit.:banghead:
Its a fishing site, lets talk fishing and stop the bickering.
Your boat will serve you more than well Haji, you will love it, i was just stirring in a fun way cause i have a Quinnie and you didnt get one, but i guess my humour is too advanced for some?
No Kamil, that comment of mine was not aimed at you in any way. Never even crossed my mind. I am sorry if you took it that way for an instant, I think you know mw better than that. And I fully respect people putting their point of view on anything and everything.
There will always be claims of my boat is better than yours etc, that's half the fun of posting to a site like this. Also comparing boats is very difficult if they are a different configuration. Then any comparison comes down to what do you want to do in a boat and which is the best to do that.
For example I think your Quinie would beat my boat hands down getting back from Browns in a rising sea and be a lot more comfortable to fish out of at Browns. Conversely I would rather fish out of mine using the electric motor chasing Bream and Whiting on the flats in Port Hacking. And Wayno's boat to night fish for Jewies (to have a sleep whilst waiting for a bite) Horses for courses and the perfect all round boat has not been made yet.
What I objected to was the snide, childish way that Storms commented on the bottom of a Trailcraft not being plate. Like a little schoolkid, might be ok if he knew what he was talking about but all that he does is regurgatate what he overhears others say. And then he gets it wrong.
Cheers mate

Yet another reason why many don't bother being part of these forums.....This comment is possibly a little cheeky maybe even a touch uneducated but not what I would describe as childish-far from challenging another to a fight!....Haji I am a couple of years younger than you and am amazed you would engage in an unpleasant exchange with another in the manner you did!
I thought I would not post here but can see I might just find a place here not reporting about my fishing but pointing out how silly and petty some of the comments are here:rolleyes:

Someone mentioned Anul in this thread & the only thing anal in this thread are where your coments are coming from Fed.
Honestly you are a total Wanker with the sh*t that comes out of your mouth.
I got my ears done with some licking 2day & I've had to come back here to have you fill them up with your BULLSH*T again.
Any 1/2 talented tradesperson is more than capable of welding up a plate boat without distorting the skins you Goose.
Any fool can weld up pressed skins on tinny's they only use 1.6 mm, the pressing absorbs the distortion.
I'm not knocking the trailcraft boat itself just dont like the false misleading way it's marketed other co's call the same type of boat a Plate Hull Boat.
It's fools like you Fed with your stupid comments that get under my skin
Pressed skins collect blood guts etc & are a pain to keep clean they rely on posts etc to give them support.
Now all we need is for you to come back & tell us all you disagree with me cause you've owned plenty of pressed boats.
You are full of sh*t & they reckon Sgt Shultz knew Nothing
You leave him for Ded Fed.
im not being smart here ,but does it make a difference the way the bottom is ,,,please explain why ,,,thanx jas
All comes down to the Tensile factor of the Alloy
True plate is high tensile & virtually bullet proof
If you've ever had a look @ a hull of a tinny with pressed hull & that boat has done some work 1st thing you'll notice is the hull skin creasing where the ribs are, true plate wont do that

haji...i just wanna see what this boat looks like........
i also reckon if its your boat and your happy with it thats all that matters....
ive fished out of a few mates boats but there is nothing better then being in your own boat......
if you get half as much enjoyment as i do mine you will have plenty of fun
oh and haji, whats all this sleeping comments of me waiting to catch a jew...hehe
i hardly sleep on my boat but i was asleep for 5 mins last week
all good
happy fishing with the new boat.....:headbang:
Thank's for your positive thought Mulloway, As soon as it arrives the pics will be up, might even get it being unloaded from the truck.
