hey fellas,

wondering if anyone has a hummingbird 383c?

i bought one a year ago and never read the instructions and have lost them. dont even know if it came with instructions. know it came with installation instructions.

anyway wondering if i can borrow and can someones?

keen to learn how to get most out of my unit and all trouble shoot the probelm of it dropping out at depth.

Cheers,

Yep you do need a manual to get the most from them if you don't know the units.
as for the dropping out at depth, "when"?
moving at speed / where is the transducer / what material is the hull / how deep is deep water / is it set on salt or freshwater mode / what frequency is it running ? there are many reasons why it may loose bottom so lets start with the most common & wark back :wiink:

Any pics of the mounted transducer (side on & from behind) ?
they are a pretty good little unit !

hull is fibreglass.

Transducer is all good i think. It will drop out in 50-100 m. then i'll turn it off then back on and it sometimes may work.

Dunno what frequency as i have not been out in a while. but its a dual frequency. i'll put some pics up soon.

Can i scan your instruction manual?

it works fine in the habours/bays and even at a few clicks (ie 15 km/hr) faster than this and it gets all noisy but the bottom readings still seem accurate.

i think it would be running on all default settings? so i'll check up.

sounds to me like a transducer position problem for sure, mate has birds on his boat & they drop out at about above 90kph. so i'd definately be lookin at position.
