hello all. i've made myself a simple estuary down rigger and was wondering if anyone had a few tips to help me get started, both in trolling baits (dead/alive) and lures (diving/skirted) e.g. what the best depths and what speeds.

I have 2 suggestions.
1 in 2-3 weeks Dave Butfield has Kingfish Secrets coming out.
On this DVD we show heaps of ideas and techniques and also basic operation to get the most of a downrigger.
2 Get 2 other friends and come out on charter with us so we can show you the ropes.

Hi Mate, i downrigg often and learnt everything i know about downrigging from Pete Le Blang a.k.a plfishfingers1, go out on his charter and you will learn alot like i did.

Yep Pete cerianly knows what he is on about when it comes to using a downrigger in the salt. :bluefish:
