Not sure what size boat you have or exactly where you want it but we have put a boat in a container along with motorbikes and sent it North. The boat moving guys were too expensive. When up north it was a simple mater of undo the padlock and we had all our camping gear , fuel drums , service tools , spare parts , food and all the heavy crap we didn't want on the way up , pulled out solar panels on top and also had a freezer spare for all the other stuff. Was secure and easy and you get standard container rates - well actually a lot cheaper as there is bugger all weight in it compared to a heavy load and was a simple on off job with smaller fork or self load skel.

Years ago up was more expensive but back was backload rates a s a lot more stuff gets sent up than comes back.

No wear and tear , fully secure , no damage all rods etc all safe all standard loading and unloading.

Moving your boat is only half the hassle it is all the **** in it that is the problem. Make sure it is wrapped in plasitic or you will spend ages getting the soot and grub off it and replacing bits broken or missing, cleaning dust out of motor cowl

Advertise when you are going as with a rack in a container you can fit one boat on to of the other so could halve the price if you find someone else headed that way.

As for weipa I would consider the cargo ferry from cairns unless you want the crap belted out of your boat or lots of trailer mods There is rental up there so might be a cheaper option unless you are spending a long while.

Cost a mate of mine around $1000a couple of years ago to get his 23ft Edencraft to Sydney from Brisbane I think.

Just the Hull om trailer no motors, he wasn't to happy either cause his new boat arrived with damage on it
