Hey guys,

Since this is my very first post in this forum, let me give you a short introduction of myself.
I'm 30 years old and I am fishing since the age of 6. I live and usually fish in Germany at the river "Main" and on lakes in my home area.

I usually fish for bass, northern pike and zander at home. All these are local predatory fishes. Most times, when I go out for fishing I use artificial lures to catch these fishes.

At the end of February, I will visit a friend in Sydney. This will be my first time "down under". Since fishing is an important part of my life, I want definitely do some fishing in the Sydney area.

I have already read a lot of stuff concerning fishing in NSW especially Sydney. But I still have a lot of questions.:)

Since I really don't know the area, my biggest problem is where to fish?!
Nobody of my local friend is a angler or owns a boat, so I only will do fishing from beaches, rocks or walls etc without any local knowledge. I will stay in Newtown, so I think finding the water should not be such a big problem.

Via Google Earth I found some very nice looking places where I want to fish. E.g. Shark bay, lady bay. Is it worth a try for Jacks, Tailor or Kingies on rocks or beaches?

I'm pretty sure nobody wants to give his or her best places away, but I believe in the fishing community! Any hints are welcome!

Cheers from cold Germany,
Jackhunter

I fish all the time with no boat and catch good sized fish.
You are welcome to contact me via this forum when you are in Sydney and I will show you some good places.
We do not catch Jacks but mostly Kingfish along with a diverse range of species. It is not hard to get fish up to 1-5kg out of the Harbour.:smiile:
