Put the boat in at 7.00am, and met Target at the ramp. Somehow managed to get the boats in on the low tide and a tough ramp and headed off.

Was determined to nail some good flatties in the ends of the bays in Woy Woy inlet. The place looks so good with nice flats at the end dropping off into the bays. We worked these areas for quite a while and only managed one decent flattie. Worked our way around and picked up a nice flounder further around the shoreline. I did see a rouge Long tom darting through the shallows smashing baitfish which i havent seen in their before. Overall it was very quiet.

Worked our way through some leases at the end of Paddys and picked up a few whiting on surprisingly big lures meant for flatties and a few more flatties.

The wind really picked up and we headed back in the woy woy bay inlet area. Picked up a nice 30cm Bream working the shorlines and that was about it for the morning. Packed up and went home about 1.00pm

Final tally was 4 flatties, 4 whiting, 1 flounder and one Bream all on sp's
Flatties were taken on gulps, and 75mm squidgee fish in drop bear and g glitter. Flounder was taken on a drop bear squidgee, Bream on a 3 in BM in WM and all whiting on gulps as well.

Got a nice feed anyway taking 2 flatties at about 45cm and the flounder at 31cm. Bloody flounder was chock full of roe too which **** me, had i known that it would have gone back. Dont have any JATZ either

All up a tough day but got a feed.

Cheers :) :)

Good to meet you out there Grant.

I drew a big doughnut out there for the morning. Could not get any livies in the traps for some reason, there were heaps but just wouldnt go in the trap???? So resorted to flicking lures around the top of the bay, everything from my fave hardbodies to 2, 3 and 4 inch shads, couldnt turn a fish. I did see some flatties cruizing the edge of the sandbar as the tide came in but wasnt fast enough to get lures near them - there wasnt much size in the ones that I saw anyway.

Good to hear that you got a few though, I was off the water by 9.30 it think.

I reckon the Westerly wind has something to do with it. Ive never done well in a westerly. Funny the poddies wouldnt play ball.

After actually seeing a long tom on the flats i reckon thats what you may have seen that day in the shallows.

One things for sure you didnt miss much going home early. :)

Did you stay in the end of the bay where the ramp is or try further out ?

No fishing trip is ever all gloom :)
Better to be out on the water than at home... :D

Sat most of the time up next to the sandflats, there was heaps of baitfish around, with lots of gars too. I did troll up and down the sides of the weedbeds (my normal style of connecting with flatties) and didnt get a touch. As I think I said, i did polaroid a few flatties around the 40cm mark just working along the edge of the flats, but couldnt tempt them.

OH well, fishing is like that sometimes.

The early end of the trip had a bit to do with the wind, its hard enough sometimes with a bit of wind retrieving on your own, and as that wind was getting stronger I thought I'd better get the boat on the trailer sooner rather than later.
