g'day

i hv a 15 hp mariner 2 stroke on my tinnie. am trying to change the impeller. i can't get the lower gearcase separated from the leg. i can get the 4 bolts between the leg and g/case off, as well as the 3 on the bit that holds the leg to the vertical pivot part, and also separate the upper and lower shift rod, but the gearcase wont come off. i hv tried to get it off with the gear shift in fwd, neutral and reverse. any further ideas or help please.

tks a lot

cheers.

I know this is an old thread but since none of ewes replied to it I'm assuming not many know how to change an impellor ?

There's either 4 or 6 visible bolts depending on size of motor in Lambo's case it's 4 bolts being such a small honky Donkey.

Loosen the visible bolts then remove the cap rear of gearbox directly over the anode brain block @ present the anode has a name.

Once this is removed look under where the anode was & you'll see another bolt undo it & bob's your uncle gearbox will be free for you to remove.

Take impeller cover off remove old impeller throw it to the ****e house
Slide new impeller it down shaft
Dont try twisting/squashing rubber blades on the new impeller to fit it in housing just hold it down firmly & rotate drive shaft & it will slot into place.
Bolt housing cover back on then grease top of drive shaft B4 re bolting gearbox back on
