Hi Guys

Just got back from an awsome day on the dollies as well as beakies.

Got a heap of 63-65cm dollies and only kept 6.

Whilst trolling for dollies we got a double hook up on beakies on the 10kg and 15kg outfit but the lines found each other and the 15kg parted company with the first rampaging fish.

The second fish was on the 10kg and was lost on the second near spooling after 20 minute battle.

The hooks pulled unfortunately and suprisingly the dollie trace was in perfect condition. So we trolled for more dollies and beakies with heavier trace, just in case.

The day rolled on and after using all of our slimies and yakkas (30) I placed out the pushers and started trolling for home.

After 30 minutes we decided to pull in the lures. The first two large pushers were retrieved without incident but the third lure had a striped marlin follow it all the way back to the boat.

The spread was set out again and within 10 minutes we were locked up to a rampaging striped marlin.

The fish hit the 10kg Shimano Tekota again and nearly spooled us 3 times in 20 minutes. We were blessed to watch this fish get air on about 6 occassions which was great.

After 5 anglers were exhausted the fish was at the side of the boat for a quick photo and measure. The battle lasted for an hour which was great for first timers.

The striped marlin was about 120kg and had measurements of 169cm girth and 254cm long. If anyone has the formula it would be helpful as I cant find where I last wrote it.

All in all a great day with over 20 dollies caught and a chance at 3 beakies.

Get out there if you can.

Best wishes

Grab 4 or 5 mates and jump onboard for a charter.
Otherwise join a gamefishing club and go to their meetings to talk to other club members.
Sometimes being an extra in a club you get to jump on a few boats and you learn a heap real quickly.
The only downside is the fuel costs on some of the bigger boats.
Good luck
Peter
