One of my mates caught this the other day and didnt know what it was, could anyone shed some light?

On ya Nath-gurnard it is.
I'v got a mate up the c-coast who is famous for catching the as we nicknamed it 'The striped spangled flying gurnard'.....Everyone else who went out in his boat rarely caught one but every time it was his turn to get into a fish in they came.:lol:

I was refering to it looking like a painted Baker not a Port Jackson..I know its a flying fish

He didnt know what is was and the colours looked abit wierd so he threw it back. oh well now i know for next time

hey mate i gaught one of this at kurin-gai chase national park - Illawong bay couple of months back

mate this is a red gunyard
not sure if its good for eating though never tried it haha
good job though
very beautiful fish

This is one of best Sashimi eating fish mate! I wish I were the one catching it!!!
