Thanks greg,

I changed the fuse it was rusted in but no....

I tried to move it but all i got was the clicking noise from the trim electrical box.
Is it the motor? or is it time i took it to a person who knows what they are doing?

Hi Pete
I also had a 115 Hp Evinrude (!982 Model) and had to replace the trim motor. Also the bushes in the cross pin. Worked fine after that.
Also, if yours is an older model motor you may need to look at the condition of the cables coming out of the junction box that will be fitted somewhere near the transom of your boat. When I first bought my boat I noticed a minute amount of green verdigris on the outside of one of the cables. I thought that I would strip off the insulation, clean it up and cover it with insulation tape but instead found that almost 95% of the cable had corrode away over approx 75mm. I cut the corroded part out and rejoined it by soldering. Worked a treat.
Imagine being far from home when the last bit of the cable finally gave up the ghost. That could ruin your whole day!:luck:

Couple of things for you to try!

Check your battery mate, when I worked at Yamaha trim/tilt would always tick when there wasn't sufficent voltage(try your car battery via jumper leads).

Be sure there isn't aything blocking the trim/tilt mechanism, have the main hinges been properly lubricated.

Where exactly is it ticking.....if its the elecrtic motor its possibly not getting enough power....if its away from the actual trim/tilt motor you should be able to isolate the problem....try and get hold of a service manual for the motor if you need spare parts or advice see below.

Hey try the following guys...used to deal with them a few years ago, always top quality working spares, top guys to deal with, may be able to assist you with working out the fault.
