Hey guys, So i decided this arvo after a day of cleaning that i was going to go off my favourite rock spot at palm beach... the low tide and sunset worked well with each other, with the turn of the tide around 45mins before last light.... so anyways, 3.15 i turn up, park my car and wonder across the sand till i get to the pool and then beyond...

there is a few people fishing and my fav spot is gone... i decide to not let it ruin my arvo, so i find a decent patch and cast in... lose 2 rigs to snags and then start packing up... as i get my bag on, i spot the guy on my fav spot moving, so i start to wonder over.. by the time i get there he is leaving and lets me know there are no fish there.... (ofcourse he was leaving 45 mins before the tide change so i dunno how much he knew...)

Anyways, i stick out a pilly on gangs, and a pilly on float, and get a few bites here and there for a good 20 minsw woth no hookups... just missed strkes...

Then, pilly on the bottom goes off, but after a 10 minute fight, i get PJ up, around 12 kilos and 4 foot very fat... got up on the ledge below but then snapped at the hook, so it was stuck in the washes for a good half hour... (before retying i stuck out a double paernoster rig with 2 squid strips on)

it went quiet for around 15 mins, and my old man walked along the rocks, (decided to join me)

i cast out my new pilly (which i had to retye the rig after the PJ) and set it in the rod hole... then I hear (ZZzZZZZIIIINNNNGGGGG) look over and my squid strips rod was bent over....

my old man was still walking over, and as i grabbed my rod and struck i yelled (quick i'm on, grab my gaff) he is pretty deaf, so i dont think he heard, and by the time he got to me, i had landed a 50cm trevally... (had to lift it up a ledge so it was dodgey but i got it)

my hearts racing and my old mans in disbelief... i still have both baits in tact and fling the squid back out...

i tell my old man to pull in the pilly and change it to a single hook with squid, and as he is doing that my rod goes off again....

this time it took me a good fem minutes, at one stage it even went under a ledge and i had to let it freespool to run back out again... But sure enough i landed number 2... 49cm... (looked a bit smaller tho at the time)

finally the old man has his rig ready and out in the water, but now the trevallys have passed...

i put my line back in the water, and check my flot pilly (no bites at all) and it was sitting in a great little wash...

anyways, watching my rod for 10 mins and decided i would pack up, as my old mans rod bends over... ( i look over and call it for a PJ ) about 10 mins later i am down the ledge, and have mouth gaffed it... got it up the rocks, and took the hook out of it... i love the look of PJ's... got the old man to get a pic with it, (dont think he ever caught anythen so big, even if it is just a PJ)

After a pic i get it back down the ledge and back in the water.. .

sun was setting by this time pretty rapidly, so we packed up, put the trevs in the bucket and headed off...

it was dark by the time we got to the car (10 min walk)

along the way we asked if the other people on the rocks had been catching anything.. no they all replied.. they all noticed however the tails hainging out of my bucket and am sure were pretty jealous of my trevs when i hel them up for them to see.. .

Good arvo out.. i rekon around 2.5 hours and a couple of good fish..

P.S- Just ate some BBQ trevally then... with chips and salad... Sooo good ...
Filleted with -
Ginger, garlic, chilli and basil with lemon juice,
then on the BBQ (straight over the flame side) until perfect...

As mum and my lil bro are away at the moment, its just me and the old man, so we ate pretty much 1 fish tonight, and will do 1 tomorrow in a nice curry .. gunna try a goan style fish curry ... very hott hehehe..

P.P.S- Pics will be up tomorrow, got a couple of my fish, and 1 of dad with his PJ...

Good stuff brother, a 50cm Trevally goes pretty hard, glad to see your old man getting a fish too, i bet he was stoked, just to feel anything of that size is good enough even if the fight is not the best.
Well done champion.
