View Full Version : Which Direction???
I was just wondering if Admin on this site had a clear direction on which way this forum is headed. Are you looking to have more or different areas? For instance, were you looking at a boating section, or do you see this being encompassed in another area?
I for one would like to see a boating section! :P

I'm with you Joe, I like the idea of a boating section. For the life of me I haven't been able to find a suitable forum elsewhere where boating issues and repair tips can be discussed.
yep id love to see one too :D
Can we have all sections relating to fishing though, please?
I dont really want to know how to brew the perfect beer, did that when I was at uni.
Adrian
yeah agree, but with the site in its infancy suggestions like this can be made to better the site. The last thing I would want to see happen is for it to become a carbon copy of others. Would be good to make it different and appealing.
What do you guys think?
Cheers

i really like a brag section
Im happy to roll with the punches and see what happens. Posting photos is a biggie though.
What makes a forum good is the people and the core membership that contribute a lot and keep things moving.
Looks like there are some good posters here already. Should be good no matter what.
:D
i agree should be good no matter what. it definatly needs pictures although im sure that will be fixed very soon... it needs lots and lots of reports and maybe a how to sorta section for us not so good fishermen!! I put in the practise but......

yeah i like the how to section. Its a good way to pass on knowledge and ideas.
I am going on a kingy bash on the weekend so i will post up a report no matter what happens
Cheers

Agreed with a lot that has been said "go with the flow". Having seen how a lot of the members on this site, go out of their way to help others with knowledge, tips and advice, it would be a shame for that to be undermined by some of the crap that is clearly evident on most other sites. If Admin could keep that sort of stuff to a minimum, they'll have a winner.
As long as there's no home brew forums I'll be happy... :P

Gents,
are we giving up on FishRaider just yet?
I love you all, but I think this is a little unfair.
I will stay quiet till the the dust settles.

UKNOWWHO!
Yes!
To his credit Ken had some good ideas that made his site a good place. Unfortunately his narrow mindedness and stupidity is what ruined it.
My suggestions would be:
- A genuine culture of honest sharing of fishing knowledge.
- Agreed - photos in posts is a must.
The product pushing thing was a problem on FR only because Ken took it too far. There should be no product pushing whatsoever by those with a vested interest in what's being pushed. If you have vultures floging their wares in every post the site loses it's integrity.
BUT
Mentioning of unafilliated products in a genuine attempt to assist another member is fine. If that line is maintained there will not be any problems.
Oh, and no ads in sigs either.
Err hello youknowwho,
Look ive got no probs with FR and enjoyed it for over a year. What stuffed it was having key people, ie the MODS, leave the site. These are the guys who made it good and I enjoy chatting with these blokes.
Like ive said it not the site thats makes it good its the people.
I dont go to the Bluegum Hotel because its the best pub, I go there cause thats where my mates go !
Had these differences been put to bed or avoided, maybe this situation would never have happened.
Cant blame people for wanting to stick together.
Just my 2 cents
Nobody enjoyed FR more than me Grant . . . maybe with the exception of Joe!!!!
I am new to all this forum stuff, so..........
I would like to see a boating section, as i am a novice
If we can all speak openly about whats happing with out "bashing" people or items, then this site will kik serious @ss.
It is imperative that those with knowledge about hot spots, best practices etc help those (once again like me) who need the help & lets be honest we can all use a tip!
Yep photos  gotta get em on here
I personally have found every1 here to be gr8 value, so lets get a clear direction & BLOODY WELL FISH!!!!!

Yeah mate I know, that comment was aimed at 'you know who'.
:D Hi Guys. Got to agree with Iain, and Grant. It was such agood site that i dont think it would be very nice to go into a bashing mode.Ben. :)

I'm in there too - as Iain pointed out, Ken had some great ideas and his Beer chat was at the request of members, as were a number of his other initiatives - I strongly participated in there, learnt a great deal and hope I helped a few along the way - no complaints and no slanging - what I posted earlier in this thread was a friendly dig at Swoff.
Whilst this is a fledging site, I will say openly that FR is still the best fishing forum on the Net at the moment, however competition is good and I hope both sites thrive as I still intend on contributing to both FR and this site.
Agreed with other comments, FR started to face problems with the loss of the mods, as again commented on earlier, the members help to make a site great. Apart from that, there were also other issues surfacing on FR that were not appealing.
Its time to let bygone issues fade and get on with the future as this is not the correct juncture to air those differences.

Yeah, Have to say FR is/was a great site and is still informative and up to date reports always comming in.
Even though it fell over a little bit of late with popular and well liked members leaving due to disagreements, I won't be banning it and will still contribute to it's pages.
My sugestion is photo's are a must, plus I also enjoy the record section as I like to go out saying today I'm gonna get that 50cm bream, 100 cm flatty(release off course  ) or that 3mtr jew on plastic,,,... it will happen I tell ya!!!
cheers and cold beers
Bluecod, well said mate :)

Thanks every one I am amazed at the response for a forum barely 3 days old.
Yeah the bashing is not necessary it is not why we set this forum up. All ideas and suggestions will be taken on board and policies will be sorted out over the next few weeks, Just enjoy it fellas. And lets see where it takes us.
By the way we wont be having home brew bit!!!!!!! But a boating section will be up soon.
Enjoy
Good work Sydfish going well do far, looking forward to any improvements :D

Sydfish - already in this section it is getting hard to track topics - I think that after a few weeks you will be able to disect the posts in this section to gain an idea of how to futher subdivide the board into "topics".
ATM I'm into fly fishing [salt] and quite a number of the blokes already on the board also have been known to wave the wand around - some in frustration  , so it would be good to see a section dedicated to fly swoffing.
Nobody enjoyed FR more than me Grant . . . maybe with the exception of Joe!!!!
I'm not going to argue with that!

Neither am i. Like XUSAK said, you the MAN on FR
I think grant somed it all up when he said and i quote "I dont drink at the BLuegum because its the best pub idrink there cause thats where my mates are"
I agree with most of this, but we must not forget who has given us this great new forum to use and who actaully owns and runs the SYDNEYFISHFINDER site.
Well done Kris, you have your work cut up for you now
I think sponsors will definatley come along into this site as its not cheap to run a top notch forum. Its all about how its run.
its so good to be able to tell people that they can get a better deal at certain tackle shops than what they can get at sponsors off FR.
Cheers

I think maybe that being able to post as a 'guest' could be a pain if the low lifes decide to come in and talk garbage.
Although it says we can go nuts, i just hope people dont. No one wants a dictatorship where every second opinion is edited, but i hope things are kept under control when the occasional thread goes haywire and looses its way.
Im sure any potential sponsors wont want to associate with a forum where anything goes and they could potentially be defamed.
just a thought. :D

Don't worry Grant that is being taken care of.
