Hi there,

Been a while since i've posted. I'll try make up for it now!

I've been fishing nearly every day last seven days....some days cut short by weather...but still made the effort.

As usual, i go for an hour or two, spinning sp's, landbased, anywhere from Captain cook bridge to Kyeemah inlet, and even foreshore drive occasionally.

I must say that the bay has been going well lately, with every outing resulting in some action. Plenty of flathead around, mostly 30-45cm. Tailor are about at dawn and dusk, most are small 20-30cm types, but a couple 40-50cm specimans have been caught around sunset.

The occaisonal Trevor has been caught, 30-40cm, always giving me good fun on light gear. Aside: After trying several cooking techniques, I've decided a few weeks back that the Trevors in the bay taste pretty bad (Not that Trevors have ever been heralded as table fish), so they are purely catch n release now....smelly slimy suckers.....

But the highlight is......this mornings effort. (You can tell i'm still wired!)I got out there about 6:30am, a quickie before work. I set up with a little 1.5gm #2 jighead, with a 3 " Berkley Powerbait. First 15 minutes, quiet....too quiet...not even a nibble....then a felt this little tug tug. Here i was thinking it was a little bream, then once i set the hook....... BOOM...it took off like a rocket, i realised that it was something bigger than that!:1yikes:

I tightened my drag a little then went about bringing this thing in. As i was using 6lb line, I didn't want to try force the issue. His initial dash probably took half the line off my spool, was a bit of give and take for the next 5 minutes until i got the upper hand and he tired. Suddenly, through the hazy water, i see this silver flash, and a decent size one. My heart was pumping with adrenalin. Luckily I had the landing net right next to me, and as i brought his head up, and slipped the net under, I stood up admiring a 60cm, 6.5 lb Jewfish. What a beautiful fish! - My best ever catch i reckon!

I took a photo of it with my phone. I am having issues downloading it. I will try later and upload tonight.

Cheers

Ed

well done Ed!
That must have been great fun on light gear. You've made me envious.
Good on you for your enthusiasm, it's certainly paying off.
That's a pretty decent photo too, if taken with a mobile phone.
cheers

Thanks Sean, it was good fun.

The photo taken with mobile was not used due to download/upload issues.

I had another taken at home with digital camera, just before i chopped him into cutlets.

Cheers

but especially so from land on plastics - with no end of snags i bet :appl:
i can feel the adrenaline pumping...!
