View Full Version : my new(old boat)need help
Hi guys and girls,ive just bought a boat of ebay which is a 5.7mtr pongrass with a 1977 70 hp mercury which has been rebuilt not to long a go but it doesent lift up and i have come to notice that it has twohydrulics on the sides of the motor,so i decided to undo the hex screw holding them there bhut cant get them off,are thay pressed on or am i doing some thing wrong,i have put a pic up of an example motor with the peices,plz explain how to remove so i can tilt my motor up,and by the way the latches near them wobble up and down so i cant see it being locked in postion...thanks jason

They might be stuck there....1 bolt does sound a little strange holding the tilt/trim on, have a good look around.....some close-up shots of the trim assy would help.

mate i took one of those apart once on an old suzuki
once you remove the long thin bolts is a tight fit and sealant holding it together
but i would check every thing else first before breaking that seal
eg, the wireing at the switch ,and the wireing in the motor

There should be a hydraulic pump mounted inside the boat and some control buttons near the dash to operate the rams.
By memory there should also be a knob on the pump to release and enable you to manually tilt the motor up.
Have a scout around and tell us what you find, include as many pics as you can.
