with calm conditions forecast i planned to launch at longy for the first time in my 4.3m tinny but got to the ramp and had my doubts so put in at manly.went to find some yakkas in north harbour at a very reliable spot but after burleying up for almost half an hour got nothing but nemos..found some small tailor surface action and then downrigged a tailor around the school with no luck..tryed 4 squid-no squid. Caught some big horse slimys in between the heads then round 11am headed round to bluefish 4 kings..saw loads of salmon towards manly so got distracted..we threw 10g 7g 3g metal, even unweighted 3in clear flick bait plastics b4 finally i swithched to 6in sluggo and after getting done a few times on the 2kg trace caught a nice sambo of bout 3kg. The woman was feeling crook so headed back-in.....

Q- DOES ANYONE LAUNCH AT LONG REEF MUCH? ARE THERE ANY HAZARDS (assuming im launching a 4.m tin with a 4wd on a fairly calm day)??

Cheers bill

I have no recent experience of launching at Long Reef but the last time I was involved the concrete launch ramp was not used by anyone, instead people launched off the sides of the ramp onto the sand. Launching was easier than coming back in and my cousin who was the skipper did a beach style landing - had a few hairy experiences but dont let that put you off - someone with more recent experience will hopefully fill you in.
cheers

Not advisory to launch without a 4wd and in a North Easterly. You are better just to go to Roseville. Safe is better than sorry all the time.
