My New PB Bream

this morning i went down to one of my new spots i have sused out and i had two live squid from the bait sesion last night, i was hoping to get a king or maybe a jew and i had another rod out with a squid head on it (fresh), hoping to get a flattie or a bream, it was all quite untill the tide changed and i had a big run on my baitrunner and hit it and it went of like dynamite i thought i had hooked a rat king but it turned out to be my PB Bream. at 43cm 1.41kg it fought like a b^&*$. i was so impressed at it size i though i would release it because a fish that size must be very old and wise, so after 5 minutes of it regaining its O2 it took off very slowly and swam to the deepths
i got it on 6lb braid with a 4lb leader What a fight!.

Saw a pair of fish that would have been around that size cruising Iron Cove, couldn't tempt them though. Then again it's much harder to get a bream to look at a piece of plastic than a fresh squid head! Sh*t loads of big whiting around though, nothing under 35cm and some up around 40cm. All chasing prawns and are suckers for shrimp style SP's. You should give lures a go, much more of a challenge to get old bream like that on lures than bait I can tell you! But it's 100x more satisfying, or at least for me.

Good on the release to. That fish would be ancient and it looks like he/she might be from the Parra as well! :wiink: :puke:

and it is from the very beggining of the parra, so my guess is it has lived up there a bit.
