Spent the weekend up at port with Ambition. Decided to make the most of the good weather saturday morning by heading north to Allmark for some kings. We dropped by some traps and flotsam to suss out some dollies, but they were mostly rats. I got the only legal fish at 67cm and had a larger fish around 80cm flick itself off whilst being lifted into the boat. :frown: Got to Allmark and we sent down the jigs. Triple hook up on kings straight away. They were on fire all morning. Average size was 80-85cm with a few close to a metre, and almost all the fish were fat as. A few larger fish were lost - just too big - one busted a T-Curve.
Called it quits at around noon with the fish still biting and headed south to the marlin grounds. They had been on fire on Saturday but we couldn't hook up. Frustrating to see boats hooking up all around you, one boat hooked up right next to us and had the marlin jumping less than 100m from the boat. Headed back in to port with 0-0-0. :Backstab:
Sunday wasn't much better. Spent the whole day chasing beakies but the bite wasn't hot. Boats were still hooking up but not as many as Saturday. Still had some boats hook up next to us just to piss us off. Ivan the skipper was disappointed as he was getting 2-3 marlin every day before we arrived and was desperate to get us some. We had two takes but nothing connected for more than the fishes first jump, and we had to return to port with figures of 2-0-0.
Thank god for the hot kingy action because with our luck it could have been a very dull weekend. But it just gives us more of a reason to come back next time.
