Seeing how i got a new bream spinning rod + reel spooled up with 6lb braid and some 4lb fluro-carb the only thing im missing is some good Bream lures..

Today i went out and bought some blades 2 switchblade TT's and a Strike Pro blade and a rapala countdown. Ive also got some surecatch poppers and 3" berkley minnows in nuclear chicken and smelt and 2" baby shrimp in new penny..

That will do me for now. How are the blades ? How would you fish them ?

Oh and what are your must have Bream lures ?

Cheers

Nothing wrong with those blades, just slowly lift them and let them settle on the bottom for a shortish pause. Then repeat.

Grab a popper or two as well. Jaz Zappa's are effective and well priced (you will have to learn to walk-the-dog as it's a stickbait). Use a short mono leader for poppers, fluorocarbon will drag lures underwater as it sinks (mono floats). 10-12lb is good, you can use heavy stuff because with topwater the fish can't see the leader.

As far as HB's go you have to have at least one Ecogear SX-40. IMO the best bream HB lure ever made - purely due to consistency.

Otherwise your lures are fine, technique is more important.

Thanks catch. Everytime i go into the tackle shop now i am going to buy a good lure or 2. That way i'll slowy build up my collection and i'll be able to work out what i like best. Brought a few trays today so i can put them in .. Now i just need to get out there and fish !

its been my experience that all the good beam lures are killer flathead lures as ive never caught a bream on a lure but always flatehead even in the same area i catch good bream on bait, good luck and let us know how you go, dom

Dan, you'll come to despise those average/below average flatties you always get when chasing bream, all they do is chew through light leaders and run off with your lures!

Yeah cant wait

Might get some more of them TT blades as i just seen that BFC has them 2 for 20 bucks might be worth tryin a few more colours..

Need to pick up some 6lb fluro and 12 lb fluro also .. Not to mention some owner hooks and spilt rings .. Why does fishing have to be be so dear :confused2:

Ive had pretty good success mate on those stiffy vibes. The "phantom" in particular. Also bought the yellow sorta one but found the paint is chipping off quite easily around the split rings. Thats around $12 bucks mate so not too bad on the wallet

Pooh, for $20 I can buy enough 'softies' for 10 weeks fishing......
I find white Sunblest & Mighty Soft Extra Fibre the best.
The bonus is the fish are healthier & fed when I release them!:red party:

cant beat the NW Pencil's or the bassday sugapen for topwater bream. also banana prawns although they swim like S!#$ they seem like bream killers. but its better to use hidden weights for bream plastics. and 80mm Squigy wrigglers in bloodworm colour are also good

Have to agree with the bassday sugapen lures, I spent half a day fishing with Stuie Hindson down at Tuross Lake in January, and those bassday lures are lethal on bream. :ohhh yeah:

Just to prove that sugapens are well worth the money, i went down to my spot AGAIN for a bream fish, was really slow for like three hours only had a couple of boil's behind the lure then the wind picked up a little so there was ripples in the water and 15 minutes from when the wind started i picked up my PB (Lured bream)
not to sure what he went but probs a kilo bream.
so stoked, he hit the lure so hard and pulled so much drag he straightened the owner trebles OMG. catchandrealease i have to agree with you now catching a big dady on a lure is so much better than bait.

oh yeah she/he was RELEASED to fight another day:jamm:

enjoy, Nug's

Chubbies, Atomic Hard Baitz, Attacks, SX40's (in various new styles), man where do I stop.

Ok if I was to say a go to hard body lure for bream in most situations & water colours it's have to be a
Deep Diving Jackall Chubbie in brown suji shrimp colour.

Number 1 Blade would be an
Ecogear ZX40 in 403 colour.

Number 1 plastic would be of a Gulp variety. probably in bananna prawn colour.

Number 1 surface would be a Lucky Craft NW Pencil in Chartruse Shad colour.

Me and Dad had a quick flick at Jibbion heads for Frigate Tuna and got one each within 10 mins on Softies but my dads mate felt sick so both the boats that were out went to the sand at bonnie vale. Had a quick flick with blades and got 4 flatties within 20 mins.

I like the blades, They seem to have a nice vibe to them. Im learning with the lures fellas.
