Despite the cold, the water is still warm and fishing has remained surprisingly productive with the usual suspects still up to their old tricks and hanging in the usual haunts. Some great Kings have been landed this past week particularly from the upper reaches of the harbour both amoungst the moorings and from structure. Areas around Shark and Clark islands have produced well with a few fish nudging the meter mark being taken.

For the plastic freaks silver trevally have been providing plenty of sport with the occasional frigget mackerel still stiring up the mix. Their not big fish but on 4lb you definatly know when you hook one. Flathead have began to slow a little but the average size of fish has increased nicely as they fatten for the winter months ahead but lots of casts are needed to pop that lure right on their nose.
Some nice pan sized snapper up to 42cm have been taken from the rocks and local guide Alex Bellissimo said fishing for them has been steady but time and a little know how is imperative. Remember if your heading to the rocks safety first. The latest round of rock fishermen to loose their life should serve as a stark reminder to all of the associated dangers with this sport we love.
Offshore the tuna are playing silly buggers a game of hide and seek with anglers but occasionally anglers stumble upon them and its fun for all. This season threatens to come alive at any moment with fantastic fish being caught in Southern waters and perhaps the best season in Tassie for many years. Fish to 101kg have been landed in Tassie these past 9 days.
If just a smattering of that cold comes this way where in for a chance of some mighty big fish. So far most of the Sydney fish have been small but judging from the amount of trap bait sold in the past two days plenty of anglers are going looking for bigger ones this weekend. Ill keep you updated as soon as i hear more.
Last of all plenty of you are probable cursing the rain and the huge amount of fresh being injected into the Harbour and estuary systems from this torrential rain. DON'T DESPAIR hang up the flick stick pull out the Jewie Slayer and head for the beach. This rain will flush all the systems out. Manly Luggo, Dee Why, Narrabeen Lakes and even Curl Curl ponds. Where fresh water runs to salt the Mulloway await the Mullet, prawns and small fish being pushed out of their secure little havens. On nights like these it's common to see the hardened Mulloway angler tussling with monsters flashing silver in the surf. If you dream of catching Mulloway stop dreaming and get out there.
Good luck and tight lines from the crew at Fish Outta Water!
