View Full Version : Anyone fished around Whale Beach?

We are planning on going to Whale Beach for Xmas and i plan on doing a bit of fishing when we are there. Anyone fished there? Whats the best spots? I can fish from the beach or rocks(though not where my chances of getting wiped out) Any info would be appreciated.

Fished whale beach a bit.In fact south whale throws up quite a few decent fish off the rock ledge there...
there is a nice rock on the ledge on the south side with rod holes drilled in to it, (see pic below) and a mate who i work with landed a nice 13 kg kingy off there on a live yakka about a week and a half ago.
will try to get him to post his pics....
or at least do a write up something about it.
The beach itself has some nice gutters and throws up jewies pretty often, as well as the obvious bream and flatties....
there are also the ovens to fish which is a really serious ledge that you gotta climb down the cliff to with ropes and stuff. it has kings and salmon sometimes cobes and bonito even thrown up smaller black marlin in the past, but can be packed.....
you can even get your livies there!!!

hey rockstar
as imnotafish said there a heaps of spots around that area . the beach fishing there is great but make it early morning or late or all ya will catch is swimmers and surfers we have caught jew fish,whitting, bream, faltties, salomon, talior and even sharks up there beat baits worms (beach) pillies, and fresh prawns just look for the gutters, As for the rocks the only spots i no is what imnotafish said

Change of plan. We wont be going to whale beach after all. As we cant camp there. So we are going to Port Stephens. Anyone fished there? Off the beach?:gohard:

Chnage of plan AGAIN! My mate has just called and said we are going somewhere closer. So we are going to ShellHarbour now. Any good?
