just wondering if anyone owns the saltist? (4000 or 4500) or what are your opinions on it? i want to use it for spinning off the beach and break walls, (mainly taylor, salmon rats bonito etc)
I am after a reel with high retrieve ratio and NOT shimano.
price wise i am thinking around 200 bucks
cheers

I dont own one but have sold the saltist and played around a bit in the shop testing drags and stuff, and i cant say i really like it. JMO obviously
If you dont want shimano there are some nice pfluegers around, the inspiron i think its called. And some new penns that would do the job. Nath what are those ones i saw in the city?

I would go Shimano. Sorry, but when it comes to heavy gear that lasts, Shimano is the only way to go.

cheers for that i will look at the flugs. i have a symetere 3000 and thunnus and are really over-rated, (its the brand you pay for) thats why im not keen on the shimano stuff, although i am keepin the budget down and i spose you pay for what you get... just after a reel thats worth its money.

I got one of the Saragus reels as a surfcasting reel, Haven't used it yet but was wondering what the drag on it is. Was going to see if it would be any good to double as a bottom bashing reel with maybe 50lb braid. What are your thoughts?
