After driving especially to Port to get my lures on Friday night, we made plans to go out today into the deep blue, weather was way ordinary in morning with rain and sea not at its friendliest, but is soon subsided to a sea we could deal with, we headed straight for the shelf, as the westerlies and southerlies had pushed the good water outwider, at least thats the thinking behind our plan. About 6miles from the shelf, i put the spread out, loving it, i had MY lures, as we neared Browns, "Zanzabar" about 300m to our port side, hooked up to a Blue of around 80kg, they fought it for 30min at least while we trolled around them and the birds working the area, nothing, anyway continued to Browns, the Short Corner gets a short run, thats all, get to Browns, do u-turn back to the birds only 2miles away, do laps nothing! Stuff lets go East, we had travelled for about 1mile when the Short Corner gets smashed, but dropped again, i run to it and give it a workout trying to entice whaever hit it!. No sooner than 3 blinks of eye, the Short Rigger goes off for the second week in a row! After a spirited 10min fight again, this time on 24kg, we boated this little beauty below!
We trolled for another 30min before heading towards land, passing the Botany Bay Wide Fad on the way in, first pass get a double hook up on Dollys, pull the hooks on one on 24kg, and got the second one, did another loop, hooked up again really close to the fad, we get a strike but the fish just went straight for the fad and i lost my beloved Hornet!
With rain caining down from Sydney, we pulled the rods in and headed for home in pouring patches of rain! Second time out off Sydney this season and a great day again!
All the best everyone.
