Hi,

I have just moved to Sydney from the Uk, I am looking to get into beach/estury fishing, Ive got myself some gear, Alvey 6.5, 12" Schnider rod, light spinning outfit etc.. can anyone tell me some good spots to fish that are not too dangerous as I am on my own, and best baits to use, I am mobile am willing to travel anywhere thats productive.

Cheers,

Moz.

theres a beach at patonga were u can pick up some nice flatties, whiting, bream and sometimes snapper to get there just go to the camping grounds and walk through to the beach it best fishes at night with hawkesbury river prawns or fresh squid the current can be strong at times so use a pretty good sized lead and dont go for a swim as ive seen people catching sharks form there before.
cheers Tom

of the beachs
are great but tides are very very inportant and same goes for the swell must
be a fairly good wave or fish and night say in the corner of many beach for
broonze whalers dusky whalers sharkes for fun on high tide on live yellow
tail (yakkas) wich i catch of the wharf on little hooks and good sausages
from butcher shop use little bits of th mince works a treat the put into a
bucket with battery operated airater to keep alive and it depends on rod and
reels on where to go and what sort of fish ya want beach is pretty much
stand up whole time so can be a pain but when ya hit em very fun to fight
big ones in the waves anyway hope this gives you a little idea (oh make sure you check where you are allowed to fish because of the marine parks)

Curl Curl,Dee Why,Narrabeen and in fact all the beaches north of these are great beach fishing spots...saves having to drive all the way to the entrance/central coast...

dawn and dusk are normalley good at any fishing spot, fresh baits or live baits like mullet prawns and squid are wat i normalley useand a good rig to have is a sinker at the bottom with 2 hooks with 30-50 cms of line with them and around 25-40 cms apart then have a swivel above that this rig with some fresh bait hopefully you can get some nice double hookups
cheers

Maurice,
it would be well worth your while to book for a few hours tuiton with Alex Bellissimo. He is the best beach/ rock fisherman i have ever seen. He fishes hard and has forgotten more about fishing than most people know. A few hours with him will get you up to speed quicker than anything else, and he will be able to show you how to fish your local beaches rather than having to travel miles to wet a line.
Check him out @
http://www.sydneyfishfinder.com.au/Bellissimo.htm
you can click through to his website from there as well.
or call him, his phone number is 0408 283 616
Cheers
Stef

hi to everyone, i just join this forum and want to share my experience a bit.
i start fishing like a week ago and been fishing on darling point couple of times. i went there with my friends, we caught 5-8 fishes on night (1-3 am) such as bream, tailor and 1 flathead <- last night. for bait we use chicken

how do you catch squid? i saw couple of big squid but don't know how to catch. can someone tell what bait i need to use. thanks

happy new year everyone.

squis jigs will get them.. the yozuri brand seems the best..or a squid spike with a pillie under a squid float. type squid in the search link on the top of the page and it should bring up some older posts on catching a squid
