Just joined the forum as Santa's just delivered a Beach rod to my son who's keen to hit the beaches in the next few days. Normally when I go beach fishing , it's an excuse to go and stand on the beach , watching the waves break and get away for a few hours , so I've never been that concerned if I catch much ( I'm am catching peace and solitude :wiink: )

.... however number 2 son is more enthusiastic , and wants to go somewhere where we might catch something. In the past I've tended to go to the Pines at Narrabeen or off Whale beach rocks at the south end ( not Ovens )

I'm thinking of going up to the lower Central coast for a change . One friend said that South end of MacMasters can be good , but was wondering if anyone knows if any of the walk-in beaches in Bouddi National Park , Little Beach , Tallow Beach or Little Tallow beach are any good or any other Reco's for Lower Central Coast or Northern Beaches.

Any help would be appreciated

My son's 12 so I'm wary about going off any area of rocks where it's dangerous . I'm also a crap swimmer . Ok , so any where off rocks can be dangerous , but some places are notorious ... though some places , like the platform , next to the pool at the south end of Whale beach is pretty easy to read .

I saw another post somewhere about the rocks at south avoca and the fishing sounds good from there . With kingies do you use live bait with a float ?

I've never used live bait before . Up to now of the beach I've either used worms , or Pillies on a gang . With Live bait off rocks , do you catch the bait first or do you buy it ?

yeah fair call, rocks r not a good place to take the young uns or the inexperienced...
but they definately r a good place to float either live yakkas/ squid/ etc or even fresh squid heads or pillies under floats or balloons, for kings cobia tailor salmon bonito even tuna.
For the kingys/cobia/tuna etc If you cant catch your live yakkas and bring them down in a bucket (or if its a bit of a hassle) just buy yourself some frozen and pretty large Calamari (the type specifically for bait thats never touched fresh water or ice) and send the head of it (or strips of the hood) out on a nice big live bait hook a couple of metres under your float/balloon
even throwing big poppers or metal slices should get u into them.
tailor and salmon will take metals as well, and they'll also get into the pillies or slimy mackerel or mack tuna strips set on gangs under a float.

Mate if you are prepaired to travel and cope with the crowd, north entrance beach is firing. Drive to Stewart/stuart ( not sure ) av and it's a couple 100 yard walk to the beach, find a spot and have fun.
