Hit pittwater yesterday to target kingfish. Caught squid the night befor from akuna. Some small squid feeding under the lights. I have beendoing this as it saves alot of valuable time in the morning. And if you put them in a snap lock bag and Ice asap they are good as gold come morning.

Spent 1 hour the next morning around the net at the basin and got 1 more squid and also saw a good sized king patrolling the shallows. Tossed a sp and got a follow but no hit.

Spent an hour slow trolling one whole dead fresh squid on the surface and another down a few meters on this device I paid 12$ at whitworths which is like a big bib which you can set to the depth you want and it will dive you bait down as far as 15-20m( has any one else used these with success??) as I don't have space on my 3 m inflatable for a downrigger this method seems ideal...

After 30 m a king took off on the surface bait then the hooks pulled on the handine:(

Tried for another 30m then did the same at west head doing two passes. Nothing.

Trolled again from longnose point down the moored boats. The bait on the diving thing went off and the king absolutely smoked me.. Guess they work?

Anyway I rated the fishing as prety average considering I had fresh squid and a few days prior I caught more fish doing the same.

Oh and FYI chopper tailor still everywhere, didn't see bonnys though.

Anyone shed any light on the sich?? Ps I don't have a sounder anyone know any good portable fish finders?
