Hi, last minute partner wanted for trip Thursday 4 January, leaving from Gibson Marina in Pittwater. Plan is to head out wide, try the shelf, see what's happening at the Sydney North FAD, try and find some warm water. Targeting small marlin, dollies, jellybean tuna. Would like to leave early, 5AM. 24 foot Caribbean with 225 HP Yamaha. Experienced skipper, not very experienced fishing in Sydney though. Share petrol. Leave a reply with a phone number and I will call. Let's go get 'em!

just organised to do a harbour run tmoz...
btw mate no need to run as far as the shelf, just look for the blue green change about 12 miles out.
troll it
there are plenty of fish about there, blacks esp, but a few jellybean yellas too
little blue 5" skirts for yellows, and 7 or 8inch blue green skirts 4 the blacks did it for us last week.
good luck
let us know how u go!

the score was fish 1, angler zero. we're pretty experienced fishos but the offshore trolling game is pretty new to us. We trolled past the Sydney North FAD, nothin going on there, not one bird around and we didn't mark much of anything on the sounder. No other boats there. For the day in general we saw just one or two birds and very little sign. We continued out due east until we got to around 300 meters depth (about 15K past the FAD), trolling a variety of pushers, 4-7 inches long, various colors, McGoo blue, green, williamsons etc. I was pretty happy with the spreads and how they were riding. We also tried some little Xmas trees as well as a setup called an Ilander with a very large garfish rigged to swim. We came back in closer to where the blue water meets the green, trolled that area for another hour or so. No strikes, no lookers, no tailers, no jumpers. I think it was just one of those days when there's just not much life out there. Overall we had lures in the water for about 5 hours.
Conditions were good, almost no wind, swell about 1.5 meters, wave about 1 meter, water was 25 degrees.
Keen to go again soon, could use a passenger who knows a little better what they're doing. Not sure it would have helped this time, there was just very little happening. Better luck next time! :nopity: Any tips are welcome

I'll throw my hand up, im not the most experienced in Sydney but have been doing good this season and past. I have a few nice fish to my name out of sydney and if you ever need crew just private message me. I can show you some things and hopefully get you onto the fish! At least you were out there unlike the rest of us!

:hellyeah:

I'd be in on that...never been out wide but might be able to persuade a good friend of mine to join us who's lures you were using...he'd have some tips for you for sure...

Chipping in for share of costs is no problem...:wiink:

Thanks for the replies guys, I'll send a private message before the next trip. Looks like swell and wind will kick up next week so perhaps next weekend, cheers>>
